A $21.4 billion state budget bill awaits Gov. Mike Easley's signature.
The House passed the bill by a 97-20 vote this afternoon. As in Monday's first vote in the House, a majority of Republicans joined Democrats in support.
The Senate passed the bill earlier today by a 32-14 vote that was again largely along party lines.
Easley has not indicated whether he will sign the budget bill.
Update: After the House vote, Easley gave a hint that he might sign the budget bill. "The governor hasn't fully reviewed the bill at this point, but believes there's been some positive movement over the weekend," said a spokesman, Seth Effron.
Easley had been seeking the removal of two tax breaks from the budget in recent days because revenue projections showed declining tax collections. Legislative leaders opted to push the tax breaks to the following year.
