Biden in Charlotte Sunday

Joe Biden will be in Charlotte Sunday.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee will be in a town hall meeting Sunday, the first time any of the major national party candidates will be in town since the conventions, Jim Morrill reports.

Biden is scheduled to appear at a 4 p.m. fundraiser at the South Charlotte home of Crandall Bowles, wife of UNC system president Erskine Bowles.

Bowles was a strong supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton during the primary. Another co-chair of the event is Charlotte Mayor Pro Tem Susan Burgess, who also supported Clinton.

Supporters will pay $1,000 to $15,000 to attend the fundraiser.

Update: Biden will speak at the Phillip O. Berry Academy in Charlotte at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets will be distributed at the Obama campaign offices in Charlotte and Gastonia on Saturday from noon to 9 p.m.

the annual 'Vance Aycock Dinner' is in November I believe. And yes, Biden addressed it one year. Some years its a much bigger democrat deal, you know elections years in particular.

there was a contingent of folks greeting them with signs last year

well today's the BIG day in Charlotte looks like...and Bev opened her office there JUST in the nick of time to impress 'officials' . . .

Wonder if she will attend this grand event? What about Hitlary? This seems like a cushy gig for a Sunday, fly in say a few words of NObama support, collect some cash and fly back by 9pm...

Bowles linked too closely to NC Democrats

No surprise that Bowles and the UNC Board of Governors just approved the obscene and unjustified pay raise for Mary Easley. Bowles is in cahoots with the democratic power elite in NC. Bowles and his wife are also hosting fundraisers not only for Joe Biden but for democrats running for state office. I would say this is a little to cozy for what should be a critically important non-political office. Supporting the status quo in North Carolina is getting even more in bred.
