Betts: Perdue blowing off Charlotte?

Tom Jensen says Beverly Perdue is blowing off Charlotte.

The Democratic pollster writes on his blog that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate appears to have made a calculated decision to abandon the Queen City in order to rack up more votes elsewhere in the state.

About two weeks ago it seems Perdue's campaign became heavily focused on the east. First she started running effective ads on Yankee trash, an issue that hits home much harder east of I-95 than it does anywhere else. Her newest set of ads attack McCrory for a Charlotte first mentality: if there was no inherent anti-Charlotte bias with voters outside the state of Mecklenburg, it seems, the Perdue campaign is trying to create one.

Jensen says that Perdue has increased her lead in its polls by about 10 percentage points in Eastern North Carolina since she went with the Charlotte strategy.

"Forsaking a point in Charlotte to pick up three in the east? Could make the difference in a close race," he writes.

Re: Another Perdue exageration

First, this is no exaggeration...it was said, and nothing you can say will change that. You continue to refer to his winning 7 times, but even the Charlotte Observer just said he had very weak opposition each time. Don't drink the hateade just b/c Perdue is so much more qualified. Unless you are on the city council, I don't think you are qualified to tell me what all of them think...how do you know I or a relative is not a member? Just accept the fact that McCrory would probably lose the mayoral race if he ran again today. While I wish you would keep him in Charlotte, I can't wish that onus on Raleigh.
PS Did you and McCrory take the same spelling class at Ragsdale? I just received a letter written on Sarah Palin's letterhead on "Wendnesday Morning"..I suppose she was in that same class

Another Perdue exageration

If I recall, there are 11 members of Charlotte's city council. A single council person, Susan Burgess, who others would admit is amazingly divisive among her own democrats on city council, made a comment about the Mayor being a non-factor. I would expect nothing less from her. Is that why she has run for Mayor in the past (and lost) and will probably run again when the Mayor becomes Governor. Unless you have other information from a democratically controlled city council, don't apply her comment to the entire council. This is just another lie or exageration on the part of the Perdue campaign. Who has been elected 7 times by the voters in a democratically dominated city?

Re: McCrory is Arrogant and Stubborn

Please refer to the recent information from McCrory's City Council. They, too, are on the anti-Pat bandwagon. His own council has become divisive due to his arrogance, elitism, stubborn and grandstanding nature. It is just in his DNA to finger point and whine. We North Carolinians aren't into that kind of juvenile behavior in our leaders. His moral bankrupt behavior on the FoxLive interview October 13th has put the nail in his ethics' coffin

Perdue is a liar and....

Divisive....

Until Beverly starts running in the Charlotte market the anti-Charlotte ad that she is running in Greensboro and the East, I can only conclude that she is a liar and a hypocrite that is unfairly dividing the great people of this state. It makes you wonder what else she will do to get elected.

Re: Betts: Perdue blowing off Charlotte?

I've seen Perdue in Charlotte several times recently. She is not blowing off Charlotte, but unlike McCrory, she knows that the rest of the state is important, as well.

Re: Betts: Perdue blowing off Charlotte?

Bev Perdue was in the Charlotte Metro area today (Tuesday)?
