The Winston-Salem Journal has launched a political blog.
Trail Mix, written by Raleigh-based reporter James Romoser, will focus on North Carolina's 2008 elections, including governor and U.S. Senate as well as John Edwards' bid for the White House.
For now, Romoser is blogging from Iowa, as he follows Edwards.
Managing Editor Ken Otterbourg notes on his blog that Romoser should make a good blogger.
James is scary smart, and a great observer and analyzer. There are a zillion political blogs out there. We hope ours will be distinguished by its quality of content, not just the sheer quantity of links being dumped onto a site. I hope you will check it out and let James know what you think.

There's an Obama in the building!
Barack Obama has been telling people that because he was educated in a school in Indonesia he has an understanding of Muslim ways.
He was in the school during his formative years – when he was about 10 years old.
He likes to say that even though he was a little boy in a school in the nation of Indonesia – which is a hotbed of Muslim unrest – that the particular school he attended had ‘mixed’ attendance. That is – Christians went there too – well, at least one if we consider Obama to the Christian.
In any case right now in the Sudan – whose government is as oppressive as that of Indonesia ’s – there is an interesting and horrible story unfolding in a school that also has ‘mixed’ attendance. That is – not just Muslims attend.
A kindly teacher from England took a teaching position in Sudan .
She had a class of 7 year olds and as a class project asked them to name a Teddy Bear. Some of the children chose the name ‘Mohammed’. Then the children went home and some told their parents.
Some of these parents reported the matter to the police and the Sudanese police went to the teacher and arrested her for blasphemy.
She is under threat of 40 lashes, 6 months in jail and a fine.
What does Barack have to say about this?
He didn’t even say anything about the Saudis giving 200 lashes to a rape VICTIM until after Hillary Clinton brought it up.
