Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

Fred AikensFred Aikens worked for Sen. Kay Hagan for a day and a half.

A longtime fiscal analyst at the state legislature, Aikens ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for state auditor last year.

He told Dome that he was hired last Wednesday to do constituent service work for Hagan, a Greensboro Democrat.

About midday on Thursday, he said he was let go.

"That's about all I know," he said. "I'm waiting for a phone call. Hopefully I can get a chance to talk to the senator."

In the meantime, Aikens has restarted his private consulting work, refiling his lobbyist registration today.

A spokeswoman for Hagan said she was unfamiliar with the details.

Update: State political director Muthoni Wambu, who worked as deputy campaign manager for Hagan and previously served on Joe Biden's presidential campaign, is also no longer working in the office.

Spokeswoman Colleen Flanagan would not discuss either case.

"It's our office policy not to discuss personnel issues," she said.

Spuriousness, not a word you see everyday. OK how many of you had to look up Ryan's fancy word.

Comment deleted for spuriousness.

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

I wonder if Hagan will replace Wambu with a North Carolinian. It is hard to understand our issues if you are not from the state.

But that is just my opinion on the matter.

Actually Cornbread...you aren't getting under my skin. You make me laugh very hard actually. It is hilarious to watch you get all worked up on these message boards and put some much emotion in your post. So angry, which is so ironic, because liberals around the country still have this anger and they WON...so funny.

Always got to have something to whine about I guess...

But keep on Cornbread...I do not want to give up laughing for Lent.

Thanks!

Project much, CO?

Glad to know I'm getting under your skin, making you think, or at least reducing you to typing insults to a fellow commenter on a blog (that somehow is meant to insult because you blog too???).

Wanna give up blogging for Lent?

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

We lost the election, yet Cornbread, you are the one that seems to have a lot of hatred in your heart still.

Must suck to wake up everyday, knowing that you are in power and nothing will change and you will still be in the same spot you were a few years ago.

I wake up everyday, work hard, make my money, and smile at the unhappy people like you that resort to message boards to be overly aggressive in an attempt to boost your self-confidence. Always the victim...I know it is sad and I am sorry.

So easy to distract and so predictable

And you wonder why you're the party of the past.

Please, make it harder for someone to get you to repeat the same lines that lost you the last election.

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

Jim Black, Michael Decker - he switched paries, Meg Scott Phipps, Easley, the list goes on and on.

Charlie Rangel, Chris Dodd, Al Sharpton and the scandals keep on coming and coming...

Don't forget the buried story of the NC GOP scandal parade

former Rep. David Almond

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

Sure they do, and in NC it's the Dems who dominate the scandals.

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

Republicans never have scandals. Duke Cunningham, Tom Delay, Mark Foley, Senator Craig (sure I believe he has a wide stance), Tom Condon, Ted Stevens. I can keep going if you need me to.

Re: Aikens hired, fired by Hagan

oh no, not another democrat scandal, PLEEZE!
