If they tire of policy talk, U.S. Sen. Richard Burr and Gov. Sarah Palin can talk hunting.
The Winston-Salem Republican is an avid deer and wild turkey hunter, while the Alaska governor is famously known for her moose hunting.
Burr is slated to introduce Palin at a Greenville rally tonight and may watch the presidential debate with her afterward.
Lately, though, Burr said he's turned to fly fishing with his wife, Brooke.
They became interested after Burr was asked by a friend to go fly-fishing in the Boone area recently. Senator Burr asked his wife to come along.
"I like to invite her to do everything with me," Burr said. If she doesn't like it, at least I still get to do it."
As it turned out, Brooke Burr liked fly fishing, and the two plan to get their own rods soon.
"She liked it a lot better than turkey hunting," he said, grinning.
Burr said he did have some advice for Palin as the final month of the campaign gets underway.
"You're at the period where it's a 30-day sprint to the election," he said. "The only thing I'd say is be yourself because America bonded with her."
