Jewish synagogue opposes marriage amendment

The board of trustees of the largest Jewish synagogue in the Triangle is on record opposing the proposed state constitutional amendment declaring that marriage between a man and a woman is the only valid domestic legal union.

"We believe that this is a matter of civil rights and basic fairness of the same nature as rights for women, racial and religious minorities and the disabled," reads part of a statement by the Judea Reform Congregation, which is based in Durham and has 640 member families.
