Huge recall on drop-side cribs...

Just posting this to help spread the word.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a huge recall that covers more than 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs, some of which carry the Fisher-Price logo. The cribs apparently have plastic pieces that can break and create a space where the child can become caught between the crib's side that drops down and the mattress. There is a free repair kit available.

Kellogg's recalls Eggos...

Just a heads up for those of you who have been stocking up on Kellogg's products this month. Kellogg's is voluntary recalling some Eggo frozen waffles after the Georgia Agricultural Department found listeria in a sample. The press release says the products were not shipped into the marketplace, but I figured I might as well post the info just in case. Here's the official press release about it, and here's the info on the products being recalled:

• Kellogg's® Eggo® Cinnamon Toast waffles, 10-count package, UPC code 3800040440 with “Best If Used Before” dates beginning with: NOV22 10 EA, NOV23 10 EA and NOV24 10 EA.

Food Lion recalls instant dry milk...

Food Lion has issued a recall due to possible salmonella contamination.

The affected product is Food Lion Instant Nonfat Dry Milk, SKU 35826-03577, 9.6 oz.

Consumers are being asked to return the product to the store for a full refund.

Nutro issues cat food recall...

I know some of you feed your pets Nutro, so I thought I'd post this (view the full release here):

Franklin, Tennessee (May 21, 2009) -- Today, Nutro Products announced a voluntary recall of select varieties of NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® COMPLETE CARE® Dry Cat Foods and NUTRO® MAX® Cat Dry Foods with “Best If Used By Dates” between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. The cat food is being voluntarily recalled in the United States and ten additional countries. This recall is due to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in our finished product resulting from a production error by a US-based premix supplier.

This weekend, Harris Teeter recalled its Harris Teeter Natural brand Roasted & Salted Pistachios due to potential contamination with the salmonella organism.

The recall covers Harris Teeter Natural Roasted & Salted Pistachios, UPC #007203653117. Package Size 12 oz., all dates.

You should be able to return any product you may have to the store for a full refund.

I know, two pet-related posts in one day... but I thought it was important to let the pet owners out there know (especally dog owners) that some pet food and treats are now being affected by the ongoing peanut butter recall. See this Wall Street Journal story or the FDA Web site for more info.

A heads up for parents:

Kellogg is asking stores to stop selling some of its peanut butter crackers because the peanut butter in them may possibly be linked to some cases of salmonella. The peanut butter was made by a company called The Peanut Corp. of America that supplies Kellogg. The specific products affected include Austin and Keebler Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Crackers, Cheese and Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers and Peanut Butter-Chocolate Sandwich crackers.

Consumers with questions or seeking a refund can call the Kellogg Consumer Response Center at 888-314-2060. And, if you have purchased some of these crackers and would be willing to speak with the N&O, please e-mail me. Be sure to include your phone number.

Hot Pockets recall...

Heads up for all of you with a freezer full of Hot Pockets...

Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling approximately 215,660 pounds of frozen stuffed pepperoni pizza sandwich products that may contain foreign materials. The product in question is a 54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of "HOT POCKETS PEPPERONI PIZZA" brand stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A," and "BEST BEFORE JAN2010."

Noodle recall...

A Rhode Island company called Simmering Soup Inc. is recalling almost 1,000 pounds of its TRADER MING'S Yakisoba Noodles with Sesame Chicken Breast, which were sold at Trader Joe's stores in the District of Columbia and nine states, including North Carolina.

The product is being recalled because it may contain soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label. Each box bears the establishment number "P-21166" as well as a "SELL BY" date of "8/26" or earlier. Consumers with questions should contact company Operations Manager Shawn Early at (401) 333-8848, ext. 228.

Totino's pizza recall...

Sorry, guys... I just saw this. General Mills issued a recall on Totino's pizzas due to possible e. Coli contamination on the pepperoni topping. There are also some Jeno's products affected. I don't think any of our stores around here sell Jeno's, but I thought I would mention it just in case. The Totnio's pizzas being recalled and their SKU numbers are:
