What can you buy for $1?

Since I used to work in Michigan (at the Lansing State Journal), I've been paying close attention to all of the discussion about bailing out the big three automakers. And more than anything else, I'm fascinated by the CEOs' offer to take a salary of $1 if the government gives them a bailout. Sepcifically, I've been pondering what exactly you can buy for a buck nowadays... My answer: even for me, not all that much. There are a bunch of burgers on dollar menus you could buy. A pack of gum. Tic Tacs. Two copies of today's N&O! I know you have suggestions... please share them!

Went to the Dollar Tree today and got a lighted musical card for $l.00. Sure could not buy that anywhere else for that price. Bought other Christmas cards for 2/$1.00. Wonder how card shops make it when you can get them so much cheaper at Dollar stores. AND they look so expensive.

With Harris Teeter's triples and the right coupons, at least two days worth of food!

Re: What can you buy for $1?

Snoopys' hotdogs are 99 cents on Tuesdays, but you still have to pay tax on it.

Re: What can you buy for $1?

A lottery ticket --- perhaps you'll come away with more and you can actually buy something of value.

A fountain soda at most gas stations or convenience stores. Or a package of Lance crackers, but not both. Yum.

A year of service from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Also, anything at Dollar Tree...including the Sunday edition of The N&O
