Wednesday deals...

It’s a decent deals week, though you will see a lot of the same items on sale at a number of stores.

Not surprisingly, stores continue to push Halloween candy. But it’s also a good week to stock up on baking mixes, ketchup and more soup if your pantry has any space left. Ice cream is also a good buy this week, with Breyers and a couple of other brands on sale BOGO (buy one get one), and that great 75-cent Breyers coupon from Sunday. And Rite Aid is back this week with another whole page of items that are free after rebate. Be sure to check that out.

Deal of the week:
This week I’m going to go to Kroger, where there’s a really good deal involving Post cereals, Nature Valley granola bars and Chex Mix bars. Buy four in one transaction and get $4 off your bill at the checkout. That works out to $1.50 a box. But if you have the Chex Mix bars 50-cent coupon from Sept. 13, you could use one per box and they would double, making your final price 50 cents a box. Likewise you could use the 40-cent Nature Valley coupon from Sept. 13. That would double, making those 70 cents a box.

Click “Read more” to see the list! And remember, if the store has a loyalty card, you’ll need it to get the sale price.

At Lowes Foods (These prices good through Tuesday, Oct. 27):

Lowes continues to heavily promote its new Fresh Rewards program.

*This week if you buy both a 100 ounce bottle of Tide and a 12-roll pack of Bounty paper towels you get a $5 Fresh Rewards coupon to use on a future order (that’s not a very good deal, though, even using the coupons from Sept. 27).

*However, if you buy any five participating Steamfresh vegetables for $10, you get $2 in Fresh Rewards back. Add five of the 50-cent coupons from Sunday or from Sept. 13 and that deal is decent. Here’s how the math works… Buy the five packs for $10. Add in five coupons. At Lowes you can only use four “identical” coupons in one transaction. So if you had five all from this past Sunday’s paper, the first four would double and the last one would be redeemed at face value of 50 cents. Then you would get the $2 back in Fresh Rewards. So you’d pay a net total of $3.50 for five packs. If you had a combination of coupons from Sept. 13 and this past Sunday, all five would double and it would work out to $3 for five packs.

*There are also Fresh Rewards deals on Gerber products, a Chocolate Meltdown double layer cake from the bakery and Starbucks coffee (use the $1 off two from Sunday with that one).

*And you can earn $2 in Fresh Rewards when you buy any four participating Hershey’s snack size candy bags. I’d use the buy three get the fourth free coupon from Sunday with that deal (though you can find cheaper candy elsewhere this week).

*Breyers ice cream is BOGO (buy one get one free) this week and you can use the 75-cent coupon from Sunday to make that a good deal.

*Healthy Choice meals are $2.97 and there was a $1 off two coupon on Sunday.

*There’s a big deal on Special K where you get a $5 discount when you buy five participating Special k items. (see this week’s flier for the details)

Re: Wednesday deals...

Yup. The ad says limit 1.

Re: Wednesday deals...

Will the Glade candle Extra Bucks deal at CVS work only once per CVS card?

Re: Wednesday deals...

I've been able to do even better on the Food Lion Betty Crocker Fruit Shapes BOGO offer. Because I belong to MyPoints, I've been printing coupons for 40 cents off per box for the last few weeks, and had 4 coupons to use. So in addition to the BOGO offer, I got another $1.60 off the 4 boxes. Also, Food Lion has an offer going on for Betty Crocker fruit items where you receive a coupon at the checkout based on the number of fruit items you buy at one time. So I received a $2.50 coupon to use on my next trip to Food Lion. Might be a good alternative for Halloween treats.
