Wednesday deals...

Well, happy early Thanksgiving, everyone! Perhaps predictably, this week the grocery chains have gone nuts, offering tons and tons of deals on your normal Thanksgiving items. But, many of the sales match up with coupons, and you can use the opportunity to stock up on items like chicken broth, stuffing, gravy or vegetables. So take a look and see if you can maximize your savings for the next few months by being a smart shopper now!

I should also note that this week, because of the holiday, the sales at the grocery stores do not end on Tuesday of next week. Food Lion’s prices are good for two weeks, and Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter are running their sales through Thursday of next week. That gives you a few extra days to enjoy the savings.

Deal of the week: This week, I really like the Duracell battery deal at CVS. This could be a really good one for the parents out there, who will undoubtedly need batteries for Christmas morning. So here’s the deal: buy $20 worth of Duracell batteries and get $15 in Extra Bucks back via the CVS Extra Bucks rebate program. You can use your coupon for $15 on a future CVS purchase. If you have a few of the 75-cent Duracell coupons from Sunday, you can save even more and wind up spending just a few dollars for $20 worth of batteries.

Click “Read more” to see the list! And remember, if the store has a loyalty card, you’ll need it to get the sale price.

*Betty Crocker boxed potatoes are 79 cents and there was a 35-cent coupon on Sunday.

*Del Monte canned vegetables are 50 cents each and there was a 30 cent coupon Sunday for the low-sodium variety.

*Ore-Ida Steam n Mash potatoes are $3 and there was a $1 off two Target store coupon on Sunday.

*Reddi-wip is $1.89 and there was a 50-cent coupon on Nov. 9.

*Carnation evaporated milk is $1.10 and there was a 50 cents off two coupon on Nov. 2.

*Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust is $2 and there was a 50 cents off two coupon on Nov. 16.

*Bliss chocolates are two for $5 and there was a $2.50 off two coupon on Sept. 14, which will make that a BOGO.

*Breyers ice cream is $2.79 and there was a 50-cent coupon on Oct. 26.

*Electrasol is $3.49 and there was a 75-cent coupon on Sunday.

*Theraflu Warming Relief is $3.99 and there was a $2 coupon on Oct. 19. There was also a mail in rebate that day that will make it free after rebate.

*There’s a really good deal on Enfamil Lipil powdered formula, where you get a $5 Target gift card when you buy two cans of formula for $24.99 each. You could also use two of the $2 coupons from Nov. 2. And if you buy a third can, you can use a third coupon and also mail in the $10 mail-in rebate from Nov. 2. So… you’d spend $74.97 for the three cans, minus the $5 gift card, minus $6 in coupons and minus the $10 rebate. That’s $53.97 for three cans, or $17.99 each.

*And there was a $10 coupon in this week’s flier to get a $10 Target gift card when you purchase a new or transferred prescription at the Target pharmacy.

That’s it for this week. These are just the deals that stood out to me. Feel free to post your own good bargains in the comments spot so everyone can save!

Re: Wednesday deals...

I went to the CVS on Davis Dr in Cary and they only had $10 ECB on $20 Duracell, not $15 ECB. Where did you get $15 back??

Thanks
Susan

Re: Wednesday deals...

I don't know if you have noticed, but Breyers Ice Cream has been repackaged now into 1.5 QT containers, when previously it was 1.75 qts (and 1/2 gallons a long time ago). This reduction significantly lessens the value of your BOGO/coupon deal, as Breyers now typically is $5.59 at HT. Do the math on the BOGO,especially if you do not have a coupon. Breyers is now very expensive.

Re: Wednesday deals...

Correction for this Walgreens listing:

*Sunsilk products are BOGO, two for $4.29, and there was a $2 off two coupon on Sunday. That’s a good deal…

Actually it's buy two at $4.29 each, then get a third one free. Still an ok deal if you use the $2 coupon, but not BOGO.

Re: Wednesday deals...

Good question... honestly, I skip WM because they are irregular with the scheduling of their ads. And Kmart because I don't feel a ton of people shop there for groceries/household products, and I don't feel its worth the (substantial) amount of time it takes to compile the list if it will only benefit a few people.

Re: Wednesday deals...

Thanks for all your tips on grocery shopping, coupons really help once you get yourself organized. Just wondering why you never do walmart or Kmart ads.

Re: Wednesday deals...

The Colgate deal at CVS is only for the basic or kids flavors, only one coupon in my collection would match up, so I didn't get it.

But there was a display in the store that in the November Xtra Care catalog they're offering Crest Pro Health free after Xtra Bucks, and I had two coupons for them, so they ended up paying me to buy that.

Got the batteries too, of course.

Re: Wednesday deals...

I also did the Duracell deal and the cashier pulled out a CVS coupon for $5/2. You may want to ask if they're hiding any behind the counter when you check out. I actually forgot to use my manufacturer's coupons and it still ended up being my first $0.00 transaction when combined with my EBs!

Re: Wednesday deals...

I took advantage of the Duracell deal at CVS. CVS is also offering $25 gift card with a new or transferred prescription. You need the coupon for the deal which was in the main section of the sunday's paper.
