Triples brag thread...

OK, I know some of you early birds were up early this morning and headed for Harris Teeter, so let's hear it: How'd you do?

Post your totals, your brags, your funny stories and any unadvertised deals you may have stumbled upon.

There will be a link to this post over under "Announcements" on the left-hand side of this blog for the duration of triples.

At Harris Teeter on Glenwood Avenue Friday morning, here are a few deals I haven’t noticed being mentioned:

Sweet Sue chicken and dumplings, reg. 2.89, on sale for 2.50 plus .75 coupon = .25

White House apple sauce, reg. 1.79, sale price 2/3.00 plus .75/2 coupon = .75 for 2 jars

Healthy Choice soup, reg. 2.29 per can, sale price 2/3.34 (3/$5.00) plus .75/2 coupon = 2 cans for 1.09

Cascade dishwasher powder, the big box, reg. 5.49, on sale for 3.99 plus .50 coupon = 2.49

Re: Triples brag thread...

Deliveries for restocking vary by location. On the north side of Raleigh, trucks come Tue, Thur and Sat. One caveat -- things are not always shelved after the truck arrives. I know that a couple of HTs shelve items on Sun night -- I presume so they are not in the way during heavier weekend shopping times.

If you shop late, say 10 or after, you will be there when the stockers are working. You can check the boxes lined up in the aisles for what you are looking for. Stockers will open a box for you (if you ask nicely).

Re: Triples brag thread...

Try Friday morning. Most stores get a truck Thursday night.

Or try again early next week. I still have not worked out the timing on when the second truck arrives during these week-long triples... anyone?

Re: Triples brag thread...

I was at HT this afternoon - now I wasn't trying to get the maximum product for the least money, I shop triples to get good deals on things I'll actually use, sometimes I'll take the opportunity to try out a new product that was more expensive than I was willing to pay so it may still have been a bit pricey, and, while I'm there I tend to pick up other things that I can use that are on sale or even full price if I really need 'em. That said, I came home with $108 worth of groceries for $55.70. Not bad I think.

One general note - if you think they're out of something look around a bit before you give up. Today the canned swanson chicken broth and the evaporated milk both appeared to be gone but were later spotted as part of special sale and/or seasonal displays on endcaps. So if it's not on the shelf don't give up immediately.
