There's something about Cheerwine...

In a time when concerns about health and money are pushing many consumers away from sodas, sales of North Carolina favorite Cheerwine are up.

The Salisbury-based company said its unit sales have increased 30 percent so far this year, when compared to the same period last year.

"There has always been a loyal fan base for this iconic brand — but the combination of our new packaging and a fresh new campaign seems to be a powerful punch that has retailers turning their heads and taking notice, particularly in this slumping category," said Tom Barbitta, vice president of marketing for Cheerwine.

Now if you could get Long Beverage who I believe distributes it around here to start distributing the Caffeine Free Diet version that was introduced last year things would be going even better for Cheerwine.

I'm a Salisbury girl, so I was raised on Cheerwine. There's nothing better, especially when you pair it with a burger or hot dog from Hap's in Salisbury. And get it in the glass bottle, because it tastes better (probably because the blend in the glass bottles is made with real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup). YUM!

At Yum-Yum's in Greensboro: an ice-cold Cheerwine and a delicious hot dog. There is no better combination on the planet!!!!! I started drinking Cheerwine there during my college days at UNCG, and now my children LOVE their hot dogs and Cheerwines. We drive over an hour just to enjoy them.
