Seeking restaurant supply store...

I heard this evening from Sandy, who posed this question: "Are there any restaurant supply stores in the Triangle area that are open to the public? I am used to having them available in FL but since  moving here I have not heard of any. They are great places to get supplies."

Sandy is right... restaurant supply stores are fantastic places to find cheap supplies for the kitchen. But I don't really know of any. There's one on South Saunders Street here in Raleigh, but I've never been inside, so I can't really recommend it based on my personal experience. Can anyone help Sandy out?

I often go to United Restuarant Supply for things for the kitchen. It's wonderful and like the writer above said, the staff is friendly and knowledgeble. Their prices are very good and they will explain anything to you!

If you're looking for half-sheet pans, you should check out Sam's Club. They also have a limited supply of other restaurant quality items like stainless steel pots and steamer pans. If you don't have a membership, you can usually get a one day guest membership just to check the place out.

United Restaurant Supply on S. Saunders Street (http://www.ureco.net/) is the best in the Triangle for the public. They're well-stocked, often have sales, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It reminds me of an old hardware store, but for cooking. I tried to find anything closer to N. Raleigh several months ago because the hours aren't the easiest for me to match, but there really isn't anything else like it. It's very worth the trip.

That is a gooood question. I'd like to pickup a couple of half-sheet pans myself. You can't really get those at linens n things.
There is a supply store in morrisville (on morrisville parkway), but I have yet to make it over there to check it out. Judging by the sign, they seem to focus on Italian supplies.

There is one in Durham on N. Roxboro Street, across from McDonald's. I've never been there, but I know someone who has, and they had a good experience there and got what they needed. I hope that helps.
