Reporting in from Harris Teeter Super Doubles: $75.71 in groceries for $5.33

I admit it. I was among the Super Double coupon shoppers at Harris Teeter roaming the aisles by 6:30 this morning. I saw lots of folks armed with coupon binders, studying shopping lists and filling their carts with free and insanely cheap groceries.

I left happy with three bags full of stuff worth $75.71. I paid $5.33. If I did my math right, that's a 93 percent savings.

Anyone else back from the aisles of HT yet? Let me know how you did.

And in case you're wondering exactly what I bought, here's a rundown. I used 20 coupons, plus a coupon for $3 off my grocery order.

4 bottles of Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce

1 bottle of KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce

2 bottles of Kraft dressing

1 bag of HT crutons

3 jars Ragu pasta sauce

2 bottles Lysol toilet bowl cleaner

3 boxes of Hungry Jack pancake mix

1 box Ritz Crackerfuls

2 boxes Nonni's Biscotti

3 bars of Tom's of Maine soap

1 package King's sandwich rolls

1 tub Best Life spread

1 carton Smart Balance milk

1 Oscar Mayer Deli Creation

Coupon News?

Are we ever going to get another weekly list for local coupon deals? I'm very disappointed ....

so much sugar and processed food, is this really a deal???

The amount of sugar and processed white flour in that picture is staggering.  No wonder our obesity rate keeps going up.  And the resulting medical bill is more than $5.31 ....

I learned a trick about "do not double"

I was told by my cashier at H-T North Hills that if the coupon starts with a 5 they'll double it anyway; if it starts with a 9 they won't.  This is the number outside the barcode.  Sometimes they say "not subject to doubling" which to me meant that they could still double it.

So sorry that happened. I

So sorry that happened. I have had cashiers do that before, but not in years. Your best bet would be to try another Teeters.

HT not doubling ones that say "do not double"

cashier at the HT at 751 and hope valley eyeballed every coupon and returned any coupons that said "do not double". said it's part of their new policy and directed me to customer service if i wanted to read it. i took the coupon back, but thinking about it now i should have asked him to scan it anyway just to see what happens. anybody else have this experience?
