Taking Stock

Triples are coming...

OK folks. This is your official heads up.

It looks pretty certain that Harris Teeter is going to start a new Triple Coupon promotion on Wednesday. If they keep with what they've been doing, it will run the full week.

So get your coupons clipped and ready to go!

I'll post a deals list here tomorrow.

Free movie ticket with purchase...

Today and tomorrow, World Market is offering a free movie ticket with a $10 purchase.

The Web site says it's the first 25,000 people, and since the promotion involves Fandango, I'm guessing there will be some sort of online form required. But hey, that's a great deal considering the price of a movie ticket nowadays!

Here's the link.

Save $10 on a pair of jeans...

There's an interesting offer from Special K that will save you $10 on a pair of jeans.

Buy five Special K products with the special Special K tokens and then go to the Web site below to get the necessary form. Send in the form and your tokens and get a voucher for $10 off a purchase of jeans. Or, you can choose to donate your credit to the United Way.

Here's the link.

A new Walgreens photo deal...

If you took some photos of your kids this weekend, here's a good one from Walgreens.

Through Nov. 7 you can get unlimited 10-cent 4x6 prints by using the code TENEACH when you check out.

I suspect there may be other good photo processing deals this week. Anyone got a good one?

Huggies diaper coupon...

There's a fabulous Internet printable coupon from Huggies out there.

It's $2 off your next purchase of ANY one Huggies Diaper product.

Most computers will let you print two.

Here's the link.

And there's also a separate coupon for $2 off any Huggies Jumbo pack or larger HERE.

Two weeks left to enter...

Remember that you now have just about two weeks left to enter the Triangle Pricebook Contest to win a copy of the Clue Secrets & Spies board game.

To enter the random drawing, enter 25 items in the Triangle Pricebook by Nov. 15.

There will also be a prize for the person who makes the MOST entries in the pricebook during the contest time!

You can find the pricebook at www.newsobserver.com/business/pricebook

Today's coupons are up...

Happy November, everyone! I hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween!

Today's paper has three coupon inserts: the Red Plum, the Smart Source and this month's P&G Brandsaver.

All 160+ coupons have been added to the database, and of course the latest version of the database is available in Excel below.

Happy clipping!

Today's the day for cheap candy...

Be on the lookout for cheap Halloween candy (if you didn't get enough yesterday, that is).

Most retailers will start their clearance at 50 percent off and work their way up from there. Of course you have to do that delicate balancing act of waiting until the discount is high but the candy you want is still in stock. If you're shopping Target, remember that there are some printable coupons on the Target Web site that could help you score a bigger discount.

Save at the ReStore...

This is a little outside of my normal coverage area, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

The Granville County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is having a customer appreciation sale in November in which all prices will be slashed by 25 percent (there are a few exceptions...). The sale runs Nov. 3 through Nov. 24. If you are unfamiliar, ReStores are stores where used and surplus building materials are sold at discounted prices to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

The store is at 604 West Industry Drive (also known as the Oxford Loop) in Oxford, across the street the Ideal Fastener. The ReStore is open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More food drives...

It is definitely the time of year when folks start asking for donations, and you know I just hate to tell people no. So remember that savvy shopping can help you to spread your dollars and help others along the way. Here are two more food drives you can look out for locally:

*The Guitar Center stores will be hosting a food drive on Nov. 1 (that's tomorrow). Food will be collected and given to food banks. Anyone who donates a nonperishable item will receive a coupon for 10 percent off their next Guitar Center purchase.

*And the Harvest Feast Food Drive is back at Harris Teeter stores through Dec. 1. Look for collection bins and those tags at the register for monetary donations. They should be appearing in stores this week.

Freebie reminder...

Just a reminder that there are freebies to be had today!

Dunkin' Donuts is giving doughnuts to kids under 12 in costume until 6 p.m. today, and Chapel Hill Comics is giving away comics to folks who show up in costume and allow them to take a photo for their Web site.

Taco Bell is giving away Black Jack Tacos from 6 p.m. till midnight.

Happy Halloween, everyone! Have a fun (and safe) time tonight!

ISO deep fried turkey...

On Friday, I heard from reader Deidre, who is looking for a place to order a deep fried turkey for Thanksgiving.

I don't know of any off the top of my head, but I am sure such places exist!

So help Deidre out... do you know of a store that does deep fried turkeys? And do you know what they charge? Maybe we can find her a deal while we're at it...

Tips for Turkey Day...

The folks at CouponShack.com are at it again.

They've issued a list of tips to help shoppers save on Thanksgiving travel and expenses.

The list is full of good ideas, including this one:

If you are going to have a turkey for Christmas too, go ahead and get it during the Thanksgiving holidays and freeze it. Turkeys are cheaper during Thanksgiving than Christmas.

Halloween freebies...

Here's a heads up on a couple of Halloween freebies that you could collect tomorrow (along with your candy, of course).

*Taco Bell stores will be giving away free Black Jack tacos from 6 p.m to midnight.

*Dunkin' Donuts stores will be giving away a free doughnut to any child age 12 and under who comes to a participating store dressed in a costume (click Read More below for the list of stores). From noon to 6 p.m.

*And Chapel Hill Comics will give people who come to the store in costume a free comic. Warning: part of the deal is that they get to take your picture for their Web site, so think carefully when selecting your costume. The comic selection includes Popeye, Betty, Star Wars, Casper and Little Lulu. The store will close at 6 p.m.

Friday freebies...

It's Friday...
