Lego coming to Crabtree...

Here's one for all the kids and kid-like adults in the Triangle: The Lego Store is coming to Crabtree Valley Mall.

The store will be big — about 2,000 square feet — and will open near center court at the end of May.

It's a pretty big score for Crabtree, since Lego has only 23 stores in the whole country, and this will be its first one in the Carolinas. Personally, my favorite part of these stores is the "Pick-A-Brick" wall, where you can buy Legos in bulk like candy. Imagine the possibilties...

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

I have been out of state for a week and just saw this post. I am super excited about the Lego store!!1 My 8 y/o grandson will be thrilled. He is a Lego fanatic, especially the Star Wars Lego sets. He wants some sets that I just can't find anywhere and am sure they will have them. I agree that Lego's is well worth the price because they foster creativity, problem solving, good critical thinking skills, etc. Even the sets help concentration and direction-following. My son, now an M.D., loved Legos and made some of the most amazing contraptions, that worked, I had ever seen. They are worth the price for sure.

FANtastic news!!!!! I've been to other LEGO Stores in the country - the best being Downtown Disney Marketplace in Orlando. The prices aren't any higher than in the discount stores and the Lego Brick Wall is awesome - perfect photo opp!!! WELCOME LEGO!!!!!

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

Those overpriced plastic blocks in a box are what got me into a successful career of architecture. I would consider more than a dollar sign when assessing value to things in life.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

Lego was the first toy that my son, who was almost two years old at the time, would play with for more than a couple of minutes. We both loved them for many years and I thank Lego for that valuable quiet time.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

Great news! I still have my basic set and showed it to my daughter. She loves it. I always laughed at the things I made; like a big brick physics-defying airplane.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

I'll tell you the thing about legos: When the company started making those so-called "playsets," they sucked all the fun and creativity out of them. And the lego video games were even worse. What could possibly be fun about a lego video game?

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

There is probably no one else, or very few people in the world, that have come into contact with as many AFOL's (Adult Fans of LEGO) as I have because of my little part time niche business. And after some years of observing LEGO people, young and old, I can categorically speak that it helps nurture smart creative people. So if is is true that perhaps the costs are high--the results are equally high. And the quality is always as good as it gets in the toy market. You are not buying a "few plastic bricks" but a three dimensional solid teaching tool that engenders problem solving and creativity. I have asked literally thousands of successful engineers, architects, computer geeks, and just normally intelligent people whether they played with those expensive little bricks and at least 80% said they did.

For the returns, it might be the most underpriced toy on the market.

In certain areas there is simply no substitute for quality of design.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

I am overjoyed that this is coming to our town. Great!!!

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

That is awesome!! My son is a member of the lego club and he pours over the Lego magazine that comes every other month. He wants all the kits that you can't find in the stores here and I won't pay the shipping from Lego.com, so he will be doubly excited!!

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

Toys that will last for YEARS....I think that is a pretty good Deal...
I know my Husband is going to be VERY Happy....

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

I agree. You can't even buy just a basic set of Legos for less than $20-25 anymore. Some of the Star Wars sets are as high as $300. The best place to get them is on eBay where you can buy them in bulk.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

for the hours of entertainment and imagination my kids get out of legos - the price is nothing compared to the price of the so called "educational toys" and computer like toys that stop working after a week or two!

and the longevity is unparalleled. My boys are playing with legos that I had 30+ years ago ....now that is value!

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

My son will be have an absolute fit (of excitement) when he hears this news.

Re: Lego coming to Crabtree...

Lego toys are the most overpriced toys on the market....what a ripoff for a few plastic blocks in a box.
