KFC wants to "de-chicken"


According to this Brandweek story, KFC is unveiling a new tagline this week that de-emphasizes the chain's fried chicken roots: "Life Tastes Better With KFC."

For me, I'm not sure it makes sense to try to move away from the thing that made you famous. But KFC certainly isn't the only fast food chain trying to diversify its offerings as a way to bring in new customers and reinvigorate its brand. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it works out.

The good news about the new marketing blitz is that the company is also offering new printable coupons on its Web site, www.kfc.com. (You'll have to sign up for the KFC loyalty club to get to the coupons page.)
