Getting crabby...

As I wrote in this morning's business section, this eight-foot-tall inflatable crab named Jake will soon be stationed atop the new McCormick & Schmick's restaurant at Crabtree Valley Mall. Jake appears at many of the seafood restaurant chain's openings and will "hang out" on top of the mall for a week to 10 days during the Raleigh grand opening in early July.

In this photo, Jake is watching from above the McCormick & Schmick's in Atlanta, which happens to be right next to CNN. But I don't think he'll be coming to downtown Raleigh to hang out on the News & Observer buidling, though...

Re: Getting crabby...

I ate at the M&S in downtown Charlotte a couple of years ago. It was good but is pricey. The newly opened Ocean Grill in Cary can take M&S on easily. Ocean Grill is amazing...the seafood is truly spectacular and can certainly can give M&S a run for their money!

Re: Getting crabby...

I have to warn people that M&S isn't a free refill kind of place.

When my college roommate and I visited Chicago five years ago, we picked M&S as our one "fancy" restaurant of the trip. I rarely drink soda, but I was craving Sprite, and it arrived in the form of a 6 oz. glass bottle and a highball with perfectly cubed ice. The waiter was kind enough to pour it for me at the table. I knew right away not to order another on my college budget.

It came to be $3. It was the best dang Sprite of my life.

(But yes, the food was great.)

I know a few people who ate at that ATL location of M&S in the middle of March. The said they were blown away.
