The Dunkin' Donuts in the 222 Glenwood building in Raleigh's Glenwood South district is closing today at 3 p.m., according to the sign on the door. That store only opened in November. The sign says the store will relocate, but no word yet on where. Also no word on what may replace it.
In the meantime, for those of you keeping score, that makes a second tenant of the new 222 Glenwood building to make a speedy exit. Back in April, the European Espresso & Wine Cafe there closed after just a few months in business.

Re: Dunkin Donuts closing...
June 19, 2009 - 8:38pm — wilfhh29There is a new Dunkin Donuts opening in Wakefield. It will be in the the strip mall on New Falls of Neuse Rd before you get to Wakefield Pines Dr. The sign went up last week, and they have been in there beginning work today (Friday, June 19).

June 19, 2009 - 11:04am — arthurb3Eastern European mafia front??? -coughlin_jake-- I think you have flipped!!??? But I agree that some business that seem to be dead are just fronts to laundry drug money!!

June 19, 2009 - 10:23am — hhefnerWhy would they even open so close to a Krispy Kreme? There's no comparison.
Turkish Delights
June 19, 2009 - 9:16am — coughlin_jakeI've lived 4 blocks from Turkish Delights for years, and it is so rare to see any business there that I've wondered how it manages to stay open. Apparently, it's getting more business than either Dunkin' Donuts or European Espresso. :-)
Re: Dunkin Donuts closing...
June 19, 2009 - 8:48am — Right_is_RightThat's disappointing, but you're right Jake. The coffee isn't great. I'd go over there some afternoons and then regret it once I got halfway through my cup.

June 19, 2009 - 8:26am — jpichevaCoffee is for drinking -- not eating. That may be the root of your problem.
And as for "The-Purple-House-Across-The- Street" -- it's called Turkish Delights and I much prefer it to Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks.

June 19, 2009 - 7:36am — coughlin_jakeNot all scores are created equal. The European Espresso and Wine Cafe had to compete with The-Purple-House-Across-The- Street, which I'm convinced is actually an Eastern European mafia front, and, more importantly, with Starbucks and Helios. We went into European Espresso a few times. They just didn't have their act together.
Also, I've never understood the perception that Dunkin' Donuts served good coffee; it was completely inedible, in my opinion. (As is Starbucks's, but at least they have convenient parking.)
