Work has finally begun on Waverly Place out in Cary. The shopping center at Tryon and Kildaire Farm roads is long overdue for a makeover, and developer Zapolski + Rudd has been working on a plan to reenergize the center for almost two years now. As we've previously reported, the new plans call for a larger Whole Foods store, office space, residential units and a hotel.
This building being torn down in the picture is off of Kildaire Farm Road and used to be a medical office. It is being removed to make way for a new Wachovia bank. Demolition of the existing Wachovia will begin in December, and that will clear the way for the new Whole Foods. That store is scheduled to open in 2010.

Re: An update on Waverly Place...
