Dan Bryk is Tha Commissioners.

The Raleigh singer-songwriter admitted to Dome that he wrote and recorded the song "Cherry Berry," about North Carolina's labor commissioner, Cherie Berry.

During an interview this morning, Bryk said the song was sent to him anonymously in the mail. But an "Alan Smithee," claiming to represent the band, e-mailed Dome from Bryk's home computer when contacted through its MySpace page.

Bryk revealed he wrote the song months ago during a February interview on WFMU in New York. At that time, he hadn't come up with the idea of releasing it through a pseudonymous band.

The band is actually just Bryk. He recorded the vocals and played all the parts using a keyboard and a Mac G4 at his home studio, Flabby Road, earlier this year.

It will be a hidden track on his upcoming EP, "Discount Store."
