No Wednesday deals...

Well folks, Wednesday Deals is usually my No. 1 priority for the week as far as Taking Stock is concerned, but this week is the exception. There is no Wednesday deals post this week.

If you're looking for matchups, I'd recommend the individual store forums at hotcouponworld. Click the "forums" tab at the top of the main page. Then look under the categories of grocery store or drug store and then find your store. Or, feel free to share your good deals here!

Wednesday deals will be back next week.

Wednesday deals...

This week would not be impressive on the deals front if it weren’t for the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Stores have the usual charcoal, grilling items and condiments on sale. But there are some really good deals on those items, and this will likely be the last big sale on those items this year.

So if you’re down to your last bottle of ketchup or mustard, this is your chance to stock up. Items are on sale just about everywhere, so keep your eyes open for the best deals.

Deal of the week: At Lowes Foods this week, cans of Texas Pete chili sauce are 50 cents. There was a 50 cents off three coupon on May 17. So buy three for $1.50 and then double that coupon. That means you pay 50 cents for three cans.

Wednesday deals...

Well, it’s a pretty decent deals week out there. Retailers continue to push back-to-school items as well as anything related to kids and school, like snack packs for lunches and peanut butter and jelly. But that means it’s a good time to stock up.

There’s a lot of brand-name cereal out there this week that you can get for $1 a box or so. That’s my threshold price (ie, the price that I’ve decided is my “go buy it now” price), so I’d go ahead and stock up on cereal this week if you are running low.

There are also a few nice money-maker deals out there. Those are deals in which you buy the item and actually make money between the use of coupons and sometimes the stores’ in-house rebate programs.

Finally, as predicted, Super Doubles are back at Harris Teeter this week, which makes for some interesting deals! There are deals using this week’s store flier below, and also the link to the deals list I posted earlier this week.

Deal of the week: There’s a crazy deal at CVS this week on Carefree pantiliners. The 16-count boxes are $3.79 but FREE after a $3.79 Extra Bucks rebate. You can use the $1 off two coupon from June 28, and it’s limit FOUR per household! So you could actually use two coupons to make two dollars and get four free packages of pads.

I chose this deal this week because I want to encourage you to consider local charities when you’re out shopping. Even if you can’t use the pads, there are many charities that need feminine products. I know the Raleigh Rescue Mission will take them as long as the packages are unopened. If you know of other charities that need those items, feel free to share them.

Wednesday deals...

My Wednesday deals post is back this week, and it’s a great one for bargain hunters.

Predictably, there are a lot of big sales on things like school supplies, peanut butter and jelly and individual snack pack items for school lunches. It’s a good time to stock up on those if you can.

There are also a good number of $1 deals and special promotions where you get a certain amount off your total when you buy a certain number of qualifying items.

At the pharmacies, there are some good free after rebate or free after rebate/coupon items, so be sure to scoop those up!

Deal of the week: Treat yourself or your kids. At Walgreens this week, Mars candy bars are 49 cents with the store coupon on the front page of this week’s store flier. Then use the $1 off two coupon from July 26 to make that two candy bars for FREE.

Wednesday deals...

I am still on vacation, so I am not here to do the Wednesday Deals matchups.

But, if you feel like sharing your good deals of the week, I am sure your fellow shoppers would appreciate the help!

Wednesday deals...

Not surprisingly, we continue to see drug stores push back-to-school sales this week. Look for the BOGOs (buy one get one) and deals that are even better than that, like buy one get two. There are some pretty amazing bargains on basic items.

Also, this is a hot week to watch out for the annual sales on Kellogg’s items that always come around back-to-school time. Remember that there’s a $10 mail-in rebate from Kellogg’s called the Fuel for School promotion. The trick is that you have to buy 10 qualifying items in one transaction. If you’re planning to participate, note that there’s going to be a one-day Kellogg’s sale at Kroger on Thursday. Or, wait a little longer, as this Sunday’s coupon inserts will contain a bunch of coupons good on qualifying products.

Finally, this week, there are a couple hundred coupons getting ready to expire on Friday. Read carefully this week, since there are several cases where I noted a deal that involves a coupon that expires on July 31.

Deal of the week: At Rite Aid this week, Herbal Essences products are two for $6, and there’s a $2 Single Check mail-in rebate when you buy two. Then you can use the BOGO coupon from Sunday, which should take off $3, making that a great deal at two for $1.

Harris Teeter is indeed doing Super Doubles this week. That’s the promotion where they will double coupons up to $1.98. So, your $1 coupon doubles to $2. Your $1.50 coupon doubles to $3. See the Harris Teeter section for the link to the Super Doubles deal list.

Other than that, it’s a pretty dull deals week. Many retailers are putting a heavy focus on back to school (good for picking up cheap pencils and such). There’s also a big push by the pharmacy chains on generic or store brand items this week. So if you are a fan of those, now may be the time to shop!

Deal of the week: This week at CVS, Duracell batteries (4 packs, AA and AAA) are $2.99 and there’s a $1 Extra Bucks rebate. That’s already a pretty decent deal, but if you use the 75-cent coupon from July 12, that brings the price down to $1.24. Unfortunately, there is a limit of one on that rebate.

Wednesday deals...

Well, it’s an OK deals week out there. There are some good ones at the grocery stores, but nothing too overwhelming. Harris Teeter has several buy two get three free deals this week, and Kroger has brought back its very awesome sale where you get $5 off when you buy 10 qualifying items. The pharmacies have their normal array of good deals using coupons and rebates, so watch for those.

The one thing I will say is that the pharmacies are offering some great deals on back-to-school basics this week. Many are free after rebate, and others will cost you just pennies. For those of you who plan ahead or those of you who contribute extra school supplies to a charity drive, you may think about purchasing some of those items this week.

Deal of the week: This week I’m headed to Walgreens where there’s a deal involving Listerine and Reach toothbrushes and floss. You get $3 in Register Rewards when you buy three qualifying products for $9. If you have the $3 off three coupon from March 15, that would make it like paying $3 for all three.

Wednesday deals...

It’s a lighter deals week with retailers coming away from the busy Fourth of July holiday weekend. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some deals to be had.

As usual, there are several deals and special pages in this week’s sales fliers highlighting deals on Procter & Gamble products. Those sales match up nicely with the coupons issued on Sunday, so now would be a good time to stock up on some of those items. There are also just a lot of good deals this week on shampoo and other bath/beauty products.

Deal of the week: At CVS this week there’s a steal on Head n Shoulders shampoo. The shampoo is on sale for $4.99 and there’s a $2 Extra Bucks rebate this week (limit three per household). You can also use the BOGO coupon from this past Sunday. So you’d pay $4.99 x two ($9.98) and then get the $2 Extra Bucks rebate x 2. Then subtract the $4.99 for the BOGO coupon and your final price will be 99 cents for two bottles.
