I can't believe I'm saying this since it's still June...
But if you collect the Hallmark Keepsake holiday ornaments, the 2009 Ornament Premier Weekend is coming up on July 11 and 12.
In case you missed the item in today's paper: C&H Cafeteria will take over the former K&S Cafeteria space in the Six Forks Station shopping center in Raleigh this August.
K&S closed its doors at 9420 Forum Drive at the end of March. The restaurant will occupy nearly 13,000 square feet in the shopping center near the intersection of Six Forks and Strickland roads.
C&H, which was founded in 2002, also has a location at Northage mall in Durham.
The Dunkin' Donuts in the 222 Glenwood building in Raleigh's Glenwood South district is closing today at 3 p.m., according to the sign on the door. That store only opened in November. The sign says the store will relocate, but no word yet on where. Also no word on what may replace it.
In the meantime, for those of you keeping score, that makes a second tenant of the new 222 Glenwood building to make a speedy exit. Back in April, the European Espresso & Wine Cafe there closed after just a few months in business.
This has very little to do with retail, but I thought it was funny, so I figured I'd post it. Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers made an appearance on the "Colbert Report" last night. You can watch the video below.

This may not be news to some of you, but it was news to me. AC Moore apparently has a rewards club.
The free program gives you one point for every $1 you spend and double points for purchases of $100 or more. You get a $10 certificate for every 200 points you accumulate. That may not seem like much but at least it's something. I know all you crafters spend a lot of money on supplies.
Here's the link (and thanks to Brenda for pointing me to the info!)...
If you missed my story in this morning's paper, the new Trader Joe's store in Raleigh has finally set a timeline for opening.
The developer for the project surprised me yesterday when he said the opening would take place in October. Given that construction on the brand new store just started two weeks ago, that is a seriously speedy construction schedule.
There's a new sign at the Holly Park shopping center on Wake Forest Road in front of the area that will become Trader Joe's. So if you had any doubts, rest assured. The store is coming. No exact date has been set yet. Stay tuned.
On my latest credit card statement, I noticed a double charge for a coffee I'd purchased one weekend. But I also saw that the mistake had been corrected the same day, so I didn't think much of it.
I thought it was just me, but apparently not. According to this USA Today story, the coffee chain actually double charged a million customers at 7,000 stores Memorial Day weekend. The company says all the double charges were fixed like mine was. But in a typical corporate understatement, the coffee company simply called the mistake a "statement processing error." Indeed.
Raleigh restaurant Margaux's is bringing back its annual anniversary Lobsterfest.
This year's date is June 25, and reservations are being taken now.

Starting Wendesday, Crabtree Valley Mall will present live music entertainment weekly every Wednesday on the patio outside the new restaurants: Brio Tuscan Grille, Fleming's Steakhouse and McCormick & Schmicks. There will be special happy hour menus from all three restaurants and a mix of music.
For a limited time, Chick-fil-A stores are offering peach milkshakes this summer. The item will be on the menu through Aug. 22.
Also, in possibly more exciting news, Chick-fil-A is also adding a new size option to its menu for all of its milkshakes. Chick-fil-A milkshakes will now be offered in 14 oz. or 20 oz. cups priced at $2.49 and $2.89, respectively. I'm all about options, so that seems like a good move to me. Or is that moooo-ve?
