Duke fans might want to know about an event tomorrow at the Alltel Wireless store at 3409 Hillsborough Road in Durham. From 5 to 7 p.m., former Duke basketball star Jay Williams will be at the store to greet fans.
And, there will be five pairs of tickets to the Duke vs. NC State game on Jan. 20 up for grabs...
OK, this doesn't have a whole lot to do with retail, but you all know I have soft spot for animal rescue groups because we got our older dog from a shelter and our second dog from a rescue group. The Wake County SPCA is currently in the running to win a $10,000 prize from Care2.com's "A New Year of Hope for Animals" contest.

Congratulations to David Wren of Roxboro, who was selected as one of the winners in Rite Aid's Fill Up and Fuel Up contest. If you don't remember, the Fill Up and Fuel Up contest entered anyone who transferred a prescription to Rite Aid's pharmacy in a drawing for a $2,600 gas card. All told, there were 31 winners. Betty Crocker has issued new printable coupons on its Web site here for everything from Betty Crocker potatoes to Hamburger Helper to Yoplait kids' yogurt. If you have not signed up for the site, you will probably have to register before you can print them.
