Correction: DSCC ad filmed in Bynum

A recent TV ad attacking U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole was actually filmed in Bynum.

In a recent post, Dome wrote that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had filmed an ad featuring two old men in rocking chairs at an ice cream store near Hillsborough.

That was incorrect. The ad was filmed at the Bynum General Store in Chatham County by Squier Knapp Dunn, a firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and New York.

A follow-up Web video featuring two younger men in rocking chairs was filmed on the sidewalk outside of the Maple View Ice Cream Store in Carrboro.

The Web video was filmed without permission of the ice cream store owners.

Dome regrets the error.

Where the Dole ad was filmed

A recent Web video attacking U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole was filmed in Carrboro.

Dome would normally not take too much interest in the location, but a number of readers and politicos had asked about the country store featured in it.

We suspect they may have hoped to make hay if it had been filmed out of state or on some Los Angeles soundstage, but the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has undercut that line of attack.

As it turns out, the video was filmed at the Maple View Ice Cream Store.

Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to the video as an ad. A TV ad also featuring two men in rocking chairs was filmed at the Bynum Country Store in Chatham County. The Carrboro video was filmed later, without permission of the ice cream store owners.

The scoop on latest endorsement

John Edwards is getting the ice cream vote.

Edwards announced tonight that he has been endorsed by Ben & Jerry's co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, as well as a handful of other business, labor and political leaders from Vermont.

Cohen's support may be most helpful. He has agreed, according to the Edwards' campaign, to travel to New Hampshire on Jan. 5 to hand out free ice cream "and help build campaign momentum."

We'll assume they won't be serving their "Half Baked" flavor.
