'BYO' wine to Fleming's Friday...

It's common practice for many fancy restaurants to allow you to bring your own bottle of wine to dinner but charge you a "corkage fee" for serving it.

If that fee has always stopped you from trying this out, here's your chance to try it for free. Fleming's at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh is participating in a special wine night on Friday, during which a special three-course dinner will be served. The price is $45 per person, but the corkage fee is waived. Check out the details here.

Try BJs Wholesale Club for free...

BJ's Wholesale Clubs are offering a free 60-day trial membership to people who want to test their stores out.

The company has been direct mailing some neighborhoods in our market, or you can find a printable 60-day pass here. Just take it into customer service with your photo ID to get set up. The pass can be activated any time between now and Dec. 31.

Get 50 percent back on copies...

If you have some copies to make, hold off until Sunday. That's the day Staples will launch a big promotion on both color and black and white copies.

Through Nov. 14 [wow!], Staples will give a 50 percent rebate on all color and black and white copies. To get the rebate, you must be a member of the Staples Rewards program, but it's free to join. Be sure to read the fine print on how the program works.

So, for instance, 100 single-sided color copies would be $49 regularly. But with this deal, you'd get a $24.50 Rewards bonus back. That's a good deal.

Binders on clearance...

Thanks to Taking Stock reader Kristin, who spotted those zip-up three-ring binders on clearance at the Walmart on New Hope Church Road in Raleigh. She bought hers last night and says they are $3 to $9 and there are "a ton of them there."

This would be a great chance to snag a cheap binder for those of you who have been considering switching to the "binder method" of coupon organization. Read my post about the binder system here. Or, view my discussion about my binder during one of my coupon classes last year by using this link.

Labor Day deals...

Like most of you, I am taking today off.

But, if you happen to find any great deals today while you are out and about, please share them!

CVS is offering 20 free prints when you buy 60 at its photo centers. But the deal ends on Monday!

50-cent copy paper...

Today's the last day to get 500-sheet reams of Hammermill copy paper for 50 cents at Staples.

The deal involves the company's Easy Rebate program. So that means you go to the store and pay the sale price of $2. Then you submit the rebate (you can do it online, it's truly easy) and get $1.50 back by mail. It's limit two per household.

And, if you're going to be submitting rebates anyway, Staples is offering a Sharp 10-digit basic calculator for FREE. It's $6.99 when you check out but you get a $6.99 rebate.

A way to waive your library fines...

The Wake County Public Library system is offering a unique way for members to get rid of their fines for overdue books.

Take the library's customer service survey and you will receive a code good to waive any current overdue fines.

That's a pretty good deal for taking a survey, especially if you tend to be on the forgetful side when it comes to returning books! (Thanks to Leigh for the tip on this one!)

[Apparently the offer has expired already (BOO!). Sorry, everyone.]

Belk Educators' Day...

Belk is having a special event to honor educators in which it will offer anyone working in the education field a 20 percent discount.

There are some exclusions, though there are fewer exclusions than there usually are on Belk coupons. It seems the offers are also specialized per store, but all the events are on the same day. I have thus far only seen the one for Triangle Town Center (below).
