New coupon site...

For some reason, there are a lot of couponers down in Clayton and Garner. I don't really know why this is, but I know it to be true.  Maybe you all are just more frugal down there!

Anyway, I just got an e-mail about a new Web site called claytoncoupons.com. I took a quick look and it seems that though they are just getting started, there could be some potential. There are printable coupons for various Clayton-area businesses, though most of the categories have just a few listings so far... It takes time to build a site like this, so let's keep an eye on it.

Free food today...

Just in case you forgot, today's the big freebie day.

McDonald's is giving away Southern Chicken Biscuits from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and Southern Chicken Sandwiches from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. To get the freebie, you have to buy a medium or large drink, but that's the only catch.

And, Dunkin Donuts is giving away free 16 oz. cups of iced coffee from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Free ribs...

If you're a rib fan, mark your calendar for May 17.

On that day, Shane's Rib Shack stores will be giving away a free half-rack of baby back ribs, a free Coke Zero and a free shirt to the first 100 people at each location. The shirts will be "Shaniac" jerseys, numbered 1 through 100 to indicate the place in line each person held.

The event is the kickoff of the chains 100 days of Backyard BBQ. Customers visiting stores from May 18 through Aug. 15 can enter for a chance to win your a backyard barbecue for 10 or a meal for two at Shane's. Right now the only Shane's in the Triangle is at Poyner Place, the Target-anchored center by Triangle Town Center.

Webkinz promotion...

Since I don't have kids, I'm not sure whether the Webkinz craze is still as hot as it once was. But if you have kids that are still into Webkinz, here's a promotion you should check out. To celebrate the Webkinz World third anniversary, a huge network of retailers all over the country have agreed to participate in a special promotion that begins tomorrow (Friday, April 25). Participating retailers will give away one Webkinz plush toy AT NO EXTRA CHARGE to the first 500 customers who make any in-store purchase of $10 or more. You can search for a participating retailer near you here.

Victoria's Secret sale is on...

I heard on the TV yesterday that the Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Clearance Sale begins today. That's one of those sales where it definitely pays to be an early bird. You certainly want to get there before the weekend. And if you hate shopping in the store, remember the sale is also happening on Victoria's Secret's Web site as well.

Triple coupons at Lowes Foods...

Well, as predicted, Lowes Foods will be doing triple coupons today, Thursday and Friday. This will probably be the last one before the holidays, so I advise you to go ahead and stock up.

Lowes rules are now the same as Harris Teeter's: You must have your Lowes card to get triple coupons. Lowes will triple up to 20 coupons, up to 99 cents in face value each. ($1 coupons are still worth only $1). Some stores seem to be limiting people to 20 coupons per day. Others may still make it 20 per trip through the line. Unfortunately, there seems to be some great variation on this rule. You'll just have to see what the policy is at your store.

With a nod and a thank you to Faye Prosser and the Smart Spending NC Yahoo group, click "Read more" for a list of good triples deals.
