Jones asked for a full review of the federal criminal case against Ignacio Ramos and José Alonso Compean, who are serving prison time in the shooting of a suspected drug smuggler, Barb Barrett reports.

In a letter today, Jones wrote that the recent arrest of the suspect, Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, raises doubts about his testimony against the two agents.

The cerebral former professor will take on President Bush, at least in spirit, in a speech Monday at a Washington think tank, reports Barb Barrett. Bush has threatened to veto the Homeland Security spending bill that Price authored, saying it goes far beyond the president’s budget request and wastes money.

Bush has threatened to veto several other appropriations bills for the same reasons.

Price will defend the spending. The bill includes millions more than Bush requested for state and local emergency response programs, for Border Patrol agents on the northern border and for port and rail security.
