Gov. Pat McCrory is expected to be motoring around Raleigh during the weekend inaugural festivities in a new gov-mobile.
The state purchased a new GMC Yukon SUV for McCrory that was scheduled to be delivered Thursday or Friday, according to Pam Walker, a spokeswoman at the Department of Public Safety.
The Yukon replaces the Chevy Suburban SUV that Governors Bev Perdue and Mike Easley had used. Because it had 167,000 miles on it, the Suburban was scheduled for normal replacement, Walker said.
State Purchasing and Contracts gave permission to Public Safety to get three quotes. The cheapest was the Yukon for $43,805, she said. She said it was $12,000 cheaper than the retail price. It was put out for quotes on January 4, the last day that Perdue was in office.
