Gov. Pat McCrory is defending the higher salaries he is offering his Cabinet members, saying that is actually paying out less than his predecessor, Bev Perdue.
McCrory took advantage of new law passed by the legislature to offer his new Cabinet higher salaries. The Republican Cabinet makes a combined $1.1 million, an 8 percent increase over his Democratic predecessor.
“Our salary structure will be lower than the previous administration's salary structure totally,” McCrory told reporters Monday fielding questions at a fire site at the Administration Building.
