Gov. Pat McCrory used the Wolfpack's two NCAA basketball championships as examples of why North Carolina should not rest on its laurels.
Speaking to a couple of thousand people at the 28th Annual Triangle Commercial Real Estate Conference Tuesday at Raleigh's PNC Center, McCrory noted the championship banners hanging from the ceiling. McCrory remembers that when the during the 1974 championship game, when the David Thompson-lead team beat Marquette for its first national championship, he was a senior in high school in Guilford County and actually worked the game as an usher at the Greensboro Coliseum.
