Reporting fraud? There's an app for that

The state Auditor's Office has a smartphone application that allows people who spot government fraud or waste to report it, using their smartphones, to the office's investigative division.

Users can download photos or video to support their allegations, according to the office. By law, the names of those making reports are kept confidential. The app, available for iPhones and for phones using the Android operating system, allows for anonymous reporting.

Use this app to elect Pat McCrory, at least virtually

Do you want to help elect Pat McCrory? There is, apparently, an app for that.

An Android app for smartphones called "Tap for Pat" lets folks show support for the Republican's campaign. It costs $1. From the description: "You play the game by tapping on ballots to elect Pat. The more ballots you can tap, the higher his vote total. Tap For Pat and make it a landslide victory."

What exactly this means or how it works is unclear. (The Dome team is exclusively iPhone users.)

McCrory's campaign said it knows nothing about the app.

The developer, William Hammer, also made a free app called "Flip-Flop Mitt Romney" that let's Android users track the Republican presidential candidate's evolving policy positions.
