Two coupon inserts in this Sunday's paper

This Sunday's newspaper will have two good-sized coupon inserts - one from Red Plum and the other from Smart Source. The coupons will have a face value of $150. But since we have such generous coupon policies at the stores in our area, with doubles, Super Doubles and triple coupon opportunities, the coupons are really worth far more.

Old Navy will be offering tank tops for two bucks this weekend, a great deal for the summer.

The deal is on for Saturday and Sunday, but if you click here, you can print a coupon that will get you the $2 tanks on Friday.

That way you won't have to fight the weekend crowd and you'll get the best selection.

Help end the NFL lockout, score some free wings

Here's a fun freebie for football fans worried about the NFL lockout.

Buffalo Wild Wings is offering six free wings if you sign the restaurant's "Save our Season" petition on Facebook and the lockout ends on or before July 20, the first date of training camp.

50-cent Redbox movies for the kids

Looking for things to keep your kids happy this summer?

Here's a cheap thrill:

Redbox is offering 50-cent movies on Wednesdays through July 27.

The deal gives you 50 cents off select family-friendly movies and games when you reserve them online. Most, if not all, of the movie titles are $1 so that's a kid flick for 50 cents. Looks like game rentals are $2 to $3.

Reporting in from Harris Teeter Super Doubles: $75.71 in groceries for $5.33

I admit it. I was among the Super Double coupon shoppers at Harris Teeter roaming the aisles by 6:30 this morning. I saw lots of folks armed with coupon binders, studying shopping lists and filling their carts with free and insanely cheap groceries.

The big news at the grocery stores this week is obviously the Super Doubles promotion happening at Harris Teeter. In case you missed it, check out my good deals list here. In addition to Super Doubles, Harris Teeter has some outstanding BOGO sales.
The best of the rest: Aldi has some pretty impressive deals on fresh fruit, including cantelope for 99 cents each and peaches, plums and nectarines for 69 cents per pound. Lowes Foods has got a good deal on toilet paper and a killer deal on Pantene hair products. And Food Lion is continuing its "Big Deal" promo, which includes 75-cent 2-liter Pepsi products again.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles: A good deals list for the Triangle

In anticipation of Super Doubles at Harris Teeter this week, I did a little coupon reconnaissance mission at my local store today and came up with a list of good deals for shoppers in the Triangle.

Starting with the list compiled at hotcouponworld.com, I verified sales dates and coupon values, which can vary from region to region, adding and subtracting deals as necessary for the Triangle area.

New Chick-fil-A opening = free food for a year

Chick-fil-A fans take note.

The Georgia-based chain will open a new restaurant in Sanford on Thursday, which means you have the chance to score yourself a year's worth of Chick-fil-A for free.

But this is definitely not a freebie for the faint of heart.

The line to get your free chicken starts at 6 a.m. Wednesday - as in the day before.

And if the scene in Sanford unfolds like previous Chick-fil-A grand openings, legions of folks will be coming from miles around, pitching tents and setting up folding chairs in the parking lot. The restaurant is promising music, contests, entertainment and food to help pass the time.

With temperatures forecast in the high 90s this week, cold showers might be nice, too.

The first 100 in line will be rewarded with 52 certificates each for free Chick-fil-A meals. The freebies will be handed out between 6 a.m. and 6:10 a.m. Thursday. The restaurant will officially open shortly afterward.

The fine print: If more than 100 people are in line by 6 a.m. Wednesday, the first 100 spots will be determined by raffle. Those 100 folks must then spend the night to keep their spot. Celebrate first day of summer with a couple of freebies

Coupon database updated with today's coupons

I've updated the coupon database to include all the coupons from today's Smart Source and Red Plum inserts.
Many Sundays, the coupons are familiar, having been periodically released over and over again for years.
This Sunday, however, there were a few rarities, including the set of three coupons for Tom's of Maine deodorant, soap and toothpaste. You almost never see coupons for these products so if you're a lover of Tom's products, it may be worth it to you to buy a couple of extra newspapers for the coupons.

Sunday deals (June 19-25)

The highlights of this Sunday's deals are the freebies at CVS and the $2.88/gallon milk at Kroger. I'll be stopping by CVS bright and early to get my free Hershey's Bliss chocolate and a number of other CVS deals that are free after coupons and Extra Care bucks. And I know we'll be stopping in at Kroger this week at least once, if not twice, to buy milk. I can't remember a price that low in recent times.

With any luck, we'll get some $1 and $1.50 coupons, which would work well during the much-anticipated Super Doubles event at Harris Teeter.

The face value of the coupons this week is $115.
