Pat McCrory will attend the Sarah Palin rally Tuesday.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate had previously talked with representatives of the Alaska governor for a visit to the state, but that was scrapped when she was named John McCain's running mate.
I think the answer would be Tony Knowles - but he apparently is not a native of Eastern NC, just was lucky to have lived there part of his life. He was born in Oklahoma according to Wikipedia.
He lost the 2006 Gubernatorial race to Sarah Palin.

I prefer Beverly's freudian slip during her first debate with the Mayor when she called him Governor (I believe she actually said it twice that night). Maybe that's one of her reasons for not choosing to participate in the statewide debates.
It's a good thing Pat's not running for President this year. After all, there has been no official allocation of electoral votes for the Great State of Mecklenburg.
