Is Cole the tipping point?

Libertarian candidate Christopher Cole thinks he can influence the increasingly close race between Democrat Kay Hagan and Republican incumbent Elizabeth Dole for the U.S. Senate.

Cole polled at 5 percent in the latest survey of likely voters by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm in Raleigh. The poll had Hagan with a 42-39 lead over Dole.

"I suspect fiscal conservatives fed up with what’s happening under Bush would pick me over Dole,” Cole said today. He said he could pull votes away from Hagan because he opposes a ban on same-sex marriage and because he has not engaged in what he called “immigrant-bashing.”

“I’m in a tip-the-balance point right now,” Cole said. “I could cost one or the other the election. Dole would be my guess.”

He figures he’ll pull about 60 percent of his votes from Dole, the rest from Hagan.

Just SHUT UP !!!!!!! to ffc1304

Re: Is Cole the tipping point?

We got Bill Clinton because conservitives were angry at GHW Bush ("read my lips no new taxes") and voted for Perot. Keep this in mind.

Cole will not win office but he will defeat someone: “I could cost one or the other the election. Dole would be my guess.”

If Cole gets Hagan elected will he be happy with the fiscal results we get from the Democrats?

Libertarians will get more accomplished by joining the GOP and steering the party than anything they'll try as a 3rd party. You don't know the oppourtunity your missing to change government by direct influence inside the GOP.

Re: Is Cole the tipping point?

Actually, Cole's support is coming equally from Republicans and Democrats (3% each). His biggest pull is from Unaffiliateds (8%). See the Civitas crosstabs here:

Munger's support is coming more from Dems than Repubs.

They myth that the Libertarian candidate just hurts Republicans isn't holding true.

Re: Is Cole the tipping point?

I used to be Libertarian, but this race it too important to gamble on a socialist democrackkk. Given the 100+ years of democrackkk domination and corruption in NC, dont EVER voter for another NC democrackkk!
