Gov. Pat McCrory is assembling his communications team as well as other staffers.
The governor reached out to Capitol Hill for his new press secretary. Crystal Feldman, a Georgetown University graduate, most recently worked as press secretary for the House Committee on Natural Resources.
She had previously worked as spokeswoman for the California Republican Party and as communications director for Sue Lowden's U.S. Senate campaign in Nevada.
The deputy communications director is Ricky Diaz, who was McCrory's campaign press secretary. Before joining the campaign, he was media affairs director for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. He also worked in Sen. Richard Burr's 2010 campaign as deputy campaign manager and before that in Christie's 2009 gubernatorial campaign. He is a Vanderbilt University graduate.
Joining McCrory's staff as a press assistant is Jenny Steele, a Charlotte native and Auburn graduate, who interned with the McCrory campaign.
Also named to the governor's staff is Blannie Cheng as deputy advisor for jobs and the economy. Cheng worked as a tax equity attorney at Smith, Anderson in Raleigh. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina law school.
Meredith McCullen was named scheduling director. The Clayton native performed the same task for the campaign and the transition. She has degrees from Appalachian State University and Suffolk University.
