Synopsis

Raised in Tennessee, Price earned a doctorate in political science from Yale University and taught at Duke. In 1987, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the Fourth Congressional District, which includes Durham and Orange counties and parts of Wake and Chatham. He lost his seat in 1994 during the Republican revolution, but won it back two years later. He voted against the Iraq war resolution and has sponsored bills that would limit the use of private security contractors and set a deadline on the war's authorization. He currently chairs a subcommittee on homeland security spending.
