The State Bureau of Investigation is looking at Rep. Thomas Wright's bank records.
In a search warrant returned Monday, investigators said they had received financial records from Coastal Federal Bank in order to investigate a charge of obtaining property by false pretenses.
The records include income statements from the New Hanover Community Health center, copies of loan information and foreclosure documents.
The investigation centers on Wright's attempt to purchase a building for use as a museum about the 1898 Wilmington race riot.
The State Board of Elections referred the real estate deal to Wake County prosecutors after a May hearing.
