I hear Coop went in the tank on the life term issue as well. Given the fact that the Gov and the GA want to close prisons do you suppose it was intentional?

He's constantly on the side of other Democrats trying to trample North Carolinians' Constitutional rights.

I will defer to the comments included in the "Young Voices" section of the Charlotte Observer in March.

Khevna Desai, 16, School of Math, Engineering, Technology, & Science at Olympic High School, Charlotte, says,

"It's quality not quantity that matters. ... In our schools we spend about 50 percent of the school day learning, and the other 50 percent having fun. Another two hours in school isn't going to change anything if those two hours are spent wasting time."

Sean Keady, 12, Marvin Ridge Middle School, Waxhaw, says,

"Students shouldn't spend more time with their teachers. Instead, the time with the students should be used effectively."

Emily Trenning, 14, Smith Academy of International Languages, Charlotte, says

"Yes, foreign students seem to be smarter than us. However, I think it's because of their teachers and their lessons, not because of the length of their school day or the hours they put in."

Finally, Adam Kiihr, 16, Charlotte Christian, Charlotte, says,

"While America's education system is a blatant and glaring problem, adding to the time that students spend in the classroom will not be nearly as effective as making the time already spent in the classroom more effective."

I think I found where we can save a bunch of money and give it to the local school districts....

Eliminate the entire State Board of Education and all of the bureaucrats at the DPI.

It took them two days at a hotel to come up with that dreck?

Good god - get a group of parents together and you'd come up with better even if they don't have the vaunted PhD.

"Do as I say, not as I do" Perdue wants to know where the money's going? That's what the taxpaying citizens of this state have been wondering ever since Jim Hunt took office. A $9B road bond in whatever year it was, all I ever saw was new DOT trucks on the roads, and they were back in two years? Holy cow! She should be ashamed of her self, but, it's politics, and they've gotten away with it for a generation, so why change now?

Actually NotSure we will still have to use textbooks that are falling apart, lose some teachers, cut special education spending, and not replace any equipment that breaks. But it's nice to see your warm heart cares so deeply.

So, if the GA had caved in and given her all the "for the children money" we didn't need the stimulus monies? If NC districts already received the stimulus monies, why all the hand wringing about the "for the children monies? Ah, the ole double dippin dumplin.

Congratulations to Bob Orr, thank you for helping to put our elected offical back in her rightful place. I did not vote for her, however she was legally elected and should be allowed to do her new job. Bev was way beyond her rights as governor to appoint a czar over our elected offical.

If there are two sages in this state, two men that should always be consulted when the meaning of the North Carolina Constitution is at issue, they are:

John L. Sanders of the UNC School of Government, and

Bob Orr of the N.C. Institute of Constitutional Law

These two men have more knowledge about how this state's foundational document operates than all of State Government put together.
