If Rep Love (D) wants to distance himself from Obama (and Basnight, Perdue) let him buy ads and do so ..... he won't. He'll just let the N&O run intereference for him.

I spent 25 years in the newspaper business, most of it writing about government and the people who run it. I would have to rate Phil Kirk as one of the top 5 public servants out of all the hundreds upon hundreds I met or wrote about. He was both able and accessible. Smart, too. I suspect he will do some good things for his latest employer. Too bad he doesn't still manage one of our faltering state agencies.

Who Cares About What Kirk does or does not do!!! He is OLD NEWS! He does not matter any more. Hardly anyone knows who he is or who he was. Why doesn't the N&O use its limited resources to report on something just a little more news-worthy?

I had the pleasure of working in a DHHS agency while Phil was in state government. He was a model leader and the program were scandal free. Staff were treated with respect and professionally. Even though I was of an opposing party -- I always held Phil in the highest respect.

Last I checked all kinds of people attended. To single out a handful in attendance is completely misleading with a melicious agenda. Beverly Perdue was elected Governor over your "endorsement" of Pat McCrory. Get over it N&O. The people have spoken. You have not right to target a child of an elected official, trying to 'create' fake news. Garrett Perdue is not an elected official. You should be ashamed for this continuous witch hunt. Undermines any objective crediblity that remains on your part.

Labor is much more organized and focused than the NC business community.

NC Businesses think they can pay protection money to Basnight or David Hoyle and they'll be spared.

They aren't capable of working together to build and entity that can fight Big Labor.

The tax on manufacturing machinery is only 1% with an $ 80.00 cap. Therby any piece of manufacturing equipment over $ 8,000 is capped at the $80.00.
