Wake County GOP had a fundraiser last night at the State Fair Grounds. With Senator Burr as the main speaker we also had many locally endorsed candidates also. The crowd was over 350 people and were all very vocal about conservative ideals and many presented ideas and solutions to current local and health care issues.

The guy that lost the election for President based on his health care platform and the guy pushing the exact same one as his own say... wait!

Redo!

How about GO HOME! Instead.

"The parent company of the hospital has been a big spender on health care lobbying."

Of course they have, Ben. Here's a few details about that parent company, Carolinas Health Care:

James E.S. Hynes, Chairman (former Chairman Hynes, Inc., a major broker/seller of pharmaceuticals)

William C. Cannon, Jr., Vice Chairman (Pillowtex. 'Nuff said)

Malcolm E. Everett III (Wachovia)

G. Kennedy Thompson (Wachovia)

Bishop George E. Battle, Jr. (God)

Amy Woods Brinkley (Bank of America)

Edward J. Brown III (Bank of America)

Ralph A. Barnhardt (Citizens Savings Bank)

Thomas M. Belk, Jr. (banker with huge wardrobe)

Rush S. Dickson III (rich enough to be a bank)

Willis Frank Dowd IV (Bank of America)

J. Knox Hillman, Jr. (insurance)

Thomas C. Nelson (Morgan Stanley, Belk)

Edward K. Prewitt, Jr. (SunTrust)

Felix S. Sabates, Jr. (Banking Commission)

Ronald H. Wrenn (investor/advisor)

Bankers don't usually swarm like this unless there's money. A lot of money. I saw it on the Discovery Channel...

The Advantages of being Astroturf

Carolinas Healthcare Systems was one of North Carolina’s biggest lobbying spenders on health care issues in the past two years, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan group in Washington that tracks spending in politics.

And they get a lame duck closed door meeting with Burr and the last guy to push his plan, John McCain. Was George Bush not available?

This a dog bites man story. Reynolds is located in North Carolina, tobacco is a legal product, "big tobacco" employs many people in the state, so what is the problem. On average Senator Burr received $23,000 a year; Kay Hagan received $19,450 from tobacco companies last year, not that much less than Burr received a year. I would expect them to contribute to both senators and the congressmen, just as I would expect to see the auto companies contributing to the Michigan congressmen or coal companies to those from West Virginia. If they didn't contribute, that would be the story.

Ryan - how come you did not post Hagan's campaign contributions from Tobacco on his post?

It is also worth noting that Kay Hagan has received over $8,000 in her first election cycle from tobacco companies. More alarming is the $19,000 in campaign contributions received by the Hagan campaign from Bank of America.

Reported here...
http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/hagan_outraged_over_aig_bonuses#comment

If she is so outraged, then she should show some leadership in the US Senate and return that money, since it is nothing short of our taxpaying dollars as well.

Yet, she voted on the Stimulus Package that included the AIG bonus money. I even called her office and asked if they read the bill and they told me most of it and that Hagan would review the modifications in the bill before voting...I guess that one just slipped under the radar. This is also very ironic since Hagan co-sponsored an amendment limiting executive pay a mere week earlier.

If only the News and Observer would do some investigative reporting...

Yep, thats it Linda, blame someone else for your failures instead of looking at yourself and asking what you did wrong.
RINOs and Democrates could not engage Sarah Palin on the issues, so they resorted to personal attacks. The fact that the so called clothes issue is still on your front burner shows the rest of us that you are not about the State or Country's business but about your own petty nit picking.

The clothes were either donated to charity or sold and the proceeds donated to charity. No one asked about Biden's, Bush's, or Obama's wardrobe cost. Sound sexist to me. Even if it is from a woman.
