I doubt Beason under reported his taxes. My guess is he had clients give him 1099's that showed what he then reported on his tax return because the difference went as kickbacks and payoffs to pols and others for favors. So he did not under report his income.Where are the crack reporters on all the corruption in Raleigh and NC.Appears the John Locke Foundation's Carolina Journal is the only paper trying to expose any of the corruption.Could it be because it is almost all democrats.

We sure could help payoff our #3 BILLION shortfall by getting some of that money Beason underreported. Isn't what he did tax evasion. It is one thing to not pay like a Geitner or some of Obama's nominees. Afterall the tax code is thousands of pages. It is another to intentionally underreport and therefore avoid paying taxes.

This is pretty funny. It's almost as if they think we believe the elected rats are in it for the salary and that they are actually taking a hit.

Folks, the big bucks are in the corruption payoffs.......ain't no paycuts going on there!

I would like to see that judge list also. And how many city of Raleigh people like your new water billing proposals?Maybe someone will bring that up next.Citizens worked so hard to conserve water, then get slapped in the face for conserving "too much" so the rate goes up and you lose again!Well, back to the business at hand.Love.

I am in shock over the entire situation. I am from a two state employee household and my son's college account is being cut into. He already can't get Pell Grants and such and now they are determined to try to keep me from being able to send him to college. As a teacher, I am furious with our entire state government. How much is Bev Purdue contributing? Or is it just unelected state employees footing the bill for the state?

asace33, you are living in the past. The Judicial Department budget has more than doubled since Chief Justice Mitchell left - and mostly in the past four years. There are 1,000 additonal employees in the courthouses and modern computer systems and equipment have been purchasing, designed and placed in the field. There was not a single major computer system developed until the past four years. It is good you retired.

Another Judge. Gee what is new? Is that not how we got to this point with suc screwed up systems but putting judges in who are used to managing themselves and not the complexities of this very complicated business. I strongly suggest Judge Smith look at the comments on the AOC computer foul-ups. There were people who were going gangbuster with burley mitchell but ever since he left there has been a parade of incompetents. Tom Ross gave raises and feathered his nest while collecting double pay as a judge and director. John Kennedy did what - who the heck knows. Ralph Walker did what? He let Greg Stahl stay and feather his nest. Judge Smith would be well advised to look back to when things were working and changing and make major changes with the people there who have screwed the place up. I am retired from a department and like most people who were there saw some good things with burley and all down hill ever since.
