That's correct, Steph! ... thanks for helping to answer questions while I'm away!

Stores, items, categories, etc. will only appear in the drop-down menus on the search page once there has been an entry made for that store/category/item.... All you need to do is enter one item and then it will appear for everyone.

I agree that they're not there if you're trying to search for a price. However, when you click on the link to enter a price, right below the store name you'll find something that says "For a list of area store id's and locations, Click here (PDF)". The PDF document has the store IDs for the stores you named, so that you can enter them in the store ID block as you're entering prices.

:-)

I would like to add a store to the price book.

International Foods
421 Chapanoke Rd.
Raleigh 27603

Good pricing on some produce, e.g. 10 limes for $1.00. And it's maybe the closest supermarket to downtown. Thanks and Gracias.

Hi, Sue,

Could you please add Babies R Us to the store list? It would be nice to compare their prices on diapers, baby food, wipes, etc (and now they have household items, too).

Thanks!

I was entering my info into the database and a message started popping up that I wasn't logged in to newsobserver.com. I was logged in and I triple checked to make sure. Just gave up.

Actually, on the stores that are missing, please take a closer look.

I think you will find most of them are in there. Some, like the Falls Point Teeter and the Lowes on Louisburg Road are actually stores with a Raleigh address, so they may show up under Raleigh and not Wake Forest. If you have the store number from a receipt, you should be able to enter it directly in the store number space on the add an item page. If that store is in our database, the system will automatically know which store it is. Also, please remember that there is a full list of stores in a PDF file that you can reference in the Add a new item page.

I think where people may be getting confused is that it is ONLY if there has been an entry for a specific store that it will show up in the drop down menus on the search page or in the search results. So, basically, there has to have been an entry for a specific store before it shows up in the search page options or the search results.

Do please keep pointing them out if you find ones we have not included, though.

We'll get there, folks. Keep pointing out the stores that you don't see...

And on the HT question... it's incredibly possible. Stores have different prices all the time. That's one of the reasons the price book is so valuable. That's why if you read the ads really closely, a lot of them say, "save at least XXX." They say AT LEAST because the prices vary from store to store...

This might be a dumb question, but how can different Harris Teeter stores have different prices? Are they individually owned? I notice a lot of times that when a sale price is listed in the Wednesday deals, my Harris Teeter has a higher price.

Actually, it looks like almost none of the Wake Forest stores are available. Food Lion, both HT (@ Wakefield and on Rogers Rd.), 3 Lowes (401/Forestville, Capital, 98/Jones Dairy), Super Target... none are part of the list.

And this is significant, because some stores have different prices from each other, even if they are only a short distance apart. I pass 3 HT on my way home from work, and there is one that is consistently well-stocked and often cheaper than the other two.

Thanks for all your efforts! You've spawned a revolution!

Oooh, good point! That Teeter opened after we compiled our list (I assume you mean the new one?) I'll see about adding it here.

As for an iPhone app, that would be awesome. Not sure how much work it would be, though... thanks for the idea.

Will the store locations list be expanded? The WF Harris Teeter isn't included in the options list, so I can't choose it when I try to input my info.

Also, any chance that this will be an app for iPhone, etc., at some point? It would be fabulous to have this info at our fingertips while shopping.
