The same Dan Blue... who sold his soul and sold out his own party to cut a deal with Republicans to take over the NC House speaker position. Blue showed his true character and lack thereof a long time ago. Nobody has forgotten when your character was tested and you proved to be lacking.

With all due respect, Mr. Paine: Blue lost that speaker's contest by 2 votes to Jim Black. And you still want to talk about true character? I'm sure that in hindsight a few of those Democrats following Black wish they'd followed Blue instead.

I walked to over 8,000 houses and met over 5,000 people doing that alone. I got to know the 33rd House district very well.

I guess they got to know you too.

You knocked on 8,000 doors and got a total of 7,199 votes.

As to my "bullying" assertion that you may be out of step with mainstream America, don't take the voters' word for it... Read your own.

That was so sweet of you Gosh. Why don't you come out from behind your moniker and run for the 33rd House seat when Blue gets the 14th Senate seat?

I walked to over 8,000 houses and met over 5,000 people doing that alone. I got to know the 33rd House district very well. It is amazing the hate and arrogance on the left of those that disagree with them. Apparently is I am crazy for supporting the Defense of Marriage Act, then you are calling 50% of African-Americans crazy also. I am crazy because I support individual responsibility and wanting to achieve that American dream WITHOUT the government picking me as a winner. Yet a majority of Americans must be crazy because they support that view. Any reader here can determine who they think is crazy. Your "bullying" here is not necessary and is a perfect example of why there is a Bullying bill going through the legislature for the schools.

Dan Blue was a complete gentleman during the campaign and we gave each other the respect of having different viewpoints. We both want to help North Carolina and to serve the public good. And even all of the candidates were thanked by Governor Perdue for our willingness to sacrifice and serve.

Why would he be responsive to the voters of Senate 14. What kind of pay back and favors are people like Mr. Allen II promising? I mean seriously this whole process screams for a "SPECIAL ELECTION".

I do have to note here that none of this surprises me and is expected from the pay to play state North Carolina is. I am not a native North Carolinian, I am originally from Virginia. But my mother is a native of Washington, NC and says she can never move back into such a dysfunctional environment North Carolina is. When the voters finally recognize what is going on in NC and vote to reform this state is when we can all enjoy this state with such great potential. The fourth highest unemployment rate in the nation doesn't help either.

It is important for the executive committee (voting members) to cast a ballot for the best person for the entire community which will inspire and transform the party (inclusion of young people and innovative ideas). More over,it is vitally important Blue or Hollaway to stay focus on issues as well as providing jobs.

Hey, good news for Paul Terrell. He can take his crazy to next level now, and might even get more than 18 percent of the vote.

I'm thinking like at least 20 or 25 percent against any wet yellow dog seeking to replace Blue.

Blue has a lot of integrity. I don't think he'll fit in real well with the current Democratic Senate Caucus.

No sense getting new blood in the gov't that may on an outside chance offer valid suggestions on how to improve or change - best bet is to keep recycling the old cronies so that all will remain the same!

I think the executive committee (of precinct members) meets and votes and the recmmomendation will be based on that decision, not one the RWCA makes.

Re: Reform critic named DHHS deputy

Isn't everyone a reform critic now? In all the brouhaha these last years over who were reform critics, the News & Observer never seeks to identify those who actually were. Those that supported reform claim there were no early critics. False. My question is, what were Maria Spaulding's views in 2001? This privatized evil genie was released from the bottle, and it is continuing to grind-up like meat all the poor bureaucrats (like, Carmen Hooker-Odom) they throw at it.
