I'm surprised she remembered the name of the state she was supposed to have been representing.

Do you suppose she would be kind enough to donate the ruby red shoes to a museum in NC?

WHO will Kay Hagan pick for Eastern District US Atty? will she be compelled to return political favor with Ripley Rand or do the right thing and pick the qualified one Mr. Willoughby? Im betting that she wouldnt want the negativity that will prevail if she picks Rand.

Note the absence of discussion of any work or accomplishments. Which, of course, she would have had to fabricate. You are next, Burr. Bush Lapdog doesn't count as work or accomplishment.

Now Ex Senator Dole can sell that home in Salisbury where she hasn't lived at in a very long time. We will never see her around these parts anymore.

I believe its worth noting Sam Currin was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison in 2007, for money laundering and obstruction charges.

The poll is of Americans, but the admirees can be from anywhere in the world and have included Benazir Bhutto, Margaret Thatcher and Mother Teresa.

Interesting that the ad running on TV says top 10 in the world and cites Gallup. Is that the case?

I have edited the post to reflect a better set of numbers received from the Gallup organization. Apologies for any confusion.

Sorry for not being more explicit. Dole mentions the Gallup poll in a new ad and I was digging up the numbers to fact-check the claim.

This story is about how Dole didn't make the top 10 in 2007? It's about how Gallup polled Dole in the 90s? Is the poll coming out for 2008?

I feel like I missed the point.

A valid point, but I would still count coming in second as being a spoiler. The dynamics of a two-person versus a three-person race are much different.

The rest are good examples, but the Bull Moose campaign did not earn enough votes to affect the race between the Republican and the Democrat.
As noted, Wilson received 59.2 percent of the vote. Even if Taft was the only other candidate in that race, he'd still have lost with a maximum 40.8 percent of the vote.

I suppose Teddy spoiled Taft's chance to come in second.

Bob Barr will be the only third party candidate to have the opportunity in NC to be a spoiler!

Unfortunately, both Nader/Gonzalez and the Green Party has been blocked from our ballot!

I find this to be offensive to many people in this state as well as unconstitutional!

It is a sad day in the United States of America when voters are disenfranchised as they have been this year!

This is not fair and true representation of "we the people", nor is it true Democracy!

N.C.will be in play this election cycle

Of course NC will be very much in play this election cycle! This state is different from the state we knew in 2000 and 2004. The "talking heads" don't understand this and are still using out-of-date information in their files and in their computers. They are too lazy to update their info. It is very tiring to her the same old arguments about "NC always votes republican at the Federal level" and "the Jesse-crats" will turn out to vote. The population has grown, become more educated and urban. The growing suburbs are filled with moderate voters who are not so taken-in by fear tactics and are concerned about the well-being of our society. And to put it politely as possible, the old "Jesse-crats" are now republicans or DEAD. They are NOT a major factor no matter how hard the republican leadership continues to push this fallacy! Many, many different groups of voters have been energized this election cycle and, if we do our job right, they will turn out this year for a great Democtatic Victory! Yes, North Carolina is very much in play. Ride The Wave!
