Re: Bill in a banned bag

If Dare, Hyde and Currituck counties are now included with the City By the Golden Gate in this prohibition of plastic bags, then I reckon you could say that this is one ban that reaches from Frisco to San Francisco. If this movement keeps growing, then the good folks in Francisco in Stokes County may ask to be included as well.

They'll have to go back to "The Andy Griffith Show" episode which shows a bus arriving in Mayberry all the way from Currituck and make sure that none of the passengers are trying to drop those plastic bags off in Deputy Fife's territory.

They'll have to make sure Tony Bennett has a couple of paper bags to see him through his next concert in San Francisco.

Meanwhile, while it cannot be said that this plastic bag ban extends all the way from Manteo to Murphy, at least it does cover the considerable coastal stretch from Sligo to Swan Quarter. But will it play in Pamlico?

willelliott4,

I don't know john Hood, and I don't need anyone to point out that Basnight is a crook. Howevever it seems your mouth may work better than your eyes if you are up holding for basnight. Are you in the paper business, the kind of paper they make bags from. It seems that you might be.

So we either agree with the wackiest place on Earth or a bunch of Commies.

Nah....I still think Basnight has something up his sleeve.

No one in office that long cares about anything unless it affects them personally............wink wink

Basnight must have bought a factory that makes paper bags. He has some kind of personal gain in this, and its not a litter issue. He is a crook plain and simple. To find the solution the current budget mess you have to look no further than basnight and the rest of his sticky fingered buddies in raleigh.

Hmmmmmmm...this one is a real puzzler.

At face value this is believable but when you read further on and find out that this is a Marc Basnight initiative you have to wonder......... when is the other shoe gonna drop.

Committee members want to do the right thing, but they're worried about picking up dog poop? There are biodegradable dog waste bags available. Go to mygreenplanetstore.comto find out more about them. They are made from cornstarch and are compostable and completely BIOdegradable. Not just degradable like some (which basically just means they break down into smaller pieces). These biodegradable bags feel and act like plastic as far as picking up the mess, but they break down in 10 - 45 days. They are even sold in community quantities for dog parks and other high use areas.

I agree, basnight's priorities are all messed up. The state and country is falling apart and he is worried about plastic bags???? How does this guy keep winning elections is beyond belief. He is one of the most corrupt reps in raleigh, and he seems to be mentally challenged. How does he keep winning elections???? The folks in his district need to wake up.

The state is falling apart (has been for years) and basnight's got this as a priority? He seems way out there. Is his radio broken? Somebody needs to send an "Earth to Basnight" message before he pulls an Easley.

I think that the implementation of this bill should start in Josh Stein's district.

When will this end? What I am saying is that how did we get to this point of using these plastic bags? This came about because environmentalists were complaining we were chopping down too many trees to make paper bags.

Actually if the paper bags were not so much more expensive than the plastic ones this bill would be a slam dunk. We have tree farms that grow trees strictly for making many types of paper products.

I do protest wheening people off the pastic bags, that in their production involve the use of petroleum products. What I detest is this is ANOTHER thing the government is telling us NO we cannot so. Why don't we let the FREE capitalistic system that exists in other states be used here in North Carolina?

This is ridiculous. It seems to me that most Americans simply want to government out of their lives. Ridding ourselves of plastic bags will only cause prices to go up at the grocery store. If another bag was more economically efficient, stores would already be using them.

Marc Basnight has run this state entirely too long and needs to be sent back to his own district where won't be able to control our lives so much.
