Re: State workers get cash for saving money

Sorry Bev. Your innovative little idea was already in place when I started working for the state in 1984. State workers who come up with money saving ideas get a percentage of the money they save the state, up to I think $5000. So go pat somebody else on the back. You have nothing to do with this.

Re: How to recognize a double standard, part 1

Very well said "Double Standard, Part 1"
What a double standard we live with in these times. Everything has to be "politically correct"--what happened to our constitutional right of freedom of speech? What a shame that someone should start such a fuss because someone disagrees with them. Apparently the person that started this is quite feeling his personal and professional "importance." Speaking of how our tax dollars are used, does he have no better thing to do with his time (that, by the way, we as taxpayers are paying him for) than go after a poor individual state worker for having an opposing opinion to his own? I do not know the individuals involved here but it sounds like this poor woman meant no harm to anyone. But let us remember she has a right to free speech, as do we. The fact that it was sent from a state email, I'm sure she now regrets. I am not a state worker; however every place I have worked through the years--everyone I know of has sent personal emails. Whether they are political or something else really is irrelevant. I would imagine everyone on this blog has sent at least one personal email from work at one time or another. Anyone who hasn't let them raise their hand now. All I can say is that if this woman is hurt because of this, what a travesty of justice that would be. I agree with "Double Standard"--grow up people, get over yourselves and your petty differences.

You are right, both sides do resort to this sort of behavior. I have worked in an agency where tax payers pay the salary of government employees. I have seen the lack of work ethics; cheating on timesheets, not doing an 8 hour work day, taking extra long lunch hours, hall chatting, office chatting, meetings where nothing was accomplished, and so many more things. Each person alive has to live with themselves and will have to answer for themselves. Many times we only hear about government workers, but if I were a betting person, I would say this happens in many work places, not get government places. How about all the time that has been spent in Washington with the HEALTH CARE BILL, and still Congress has not read it. I would have to say there is always two sides to every coin. So how can you judge one individual for sending an email? There is bigger fish to fry than pick on a woman who did not intentionally send the email out to hurt anyone. If someone takes offence about any particular subject, I think it is up to that person to work out their own offenses within themselves instead of using power to get this in the news or their power to publish. Maybe this lady is offended by the article that was written about her. I have family members that fought in the war as well. It was their choice to do this for their country. I have family that were part of the German Jews. I was not offended by the video. But, I am not an Obama fan either. I try to see more than one side to a story...you know the coin that has two sides. Just think what this lady is going through right now after you all went after her; and why go after a person like this over a 'stupid email'? Was this a knee jerk reaction? Was it a cruel moment? So there is two sides to every coin. She must feel very embarrassed by her name being associated to this article. This was something that did not have to happen. It was not newsworthy anyway, and sounded more like a retaliation, or a vindictive act. Does this make you any better than her? Maybe she will be able to keep her job. Do you think? There are too many spoiled rights' groups. Everyone wants to be too sensitive publically these days, always blaming someone else. What has happened to a person who heard or read something just thinking to themselves, 'well I will consider the source'? Think of all the 'rights' groups' and how much division this has caused in this country. I get offended too, but I do not go after someone's jugular to teach a lesson. We handle our disappointments like a grown up, we handle our hurt like a grown up, and we handle our offenses like a grown up. How much better off would this country be if everyone would stop the blame game and just go about their daily business. This also includes all of this racial bias. There is no need in continuing to fuss about who you are and what you think you deserve. The war has been over a long time and people here today are not responsible. Why not bury your hatred? What a great country this would be if people could live in peace instead of living with hatred, jealousy, greed, self indulgence, and not being responsible. And there is a lack of respect in this country for authority. When I was growing up I was taught to respect my parents, my elders, my teachers, the law enforcement, and respect for myself. I know that I have rambled, and I hope that I have made some points that will be well taken. Let's all of us think a little more about humility than self.

Have you ever worked for an agency paid by public dollars? You do not know this lady. She may have been taking a break from her public paid job. Employees are allowed to have a break now and then. I think without any more knowledge than you have of this lady, you are being very cruel.

How to recognize a double standard, part 1

I do not think this sort of political propaganda is appropriate nor respectful to the public discourse on the issues...

Nevertheless, the left consistently ridiculed President Bush while he was in office.

Examples:

The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything

Fraud: The Strategy Behind the Bush Lies and Why the Media Didn't Tell You

Thus, it is fair to say that Freedom of Speech is alive and well since both sides resort to these practices...

Sending it from a government computer is neither wise nor encouraged, but have you ever been downtown during work hours. One might notice a handful of employees smoking a cigarette or chatting on their cell phone. Smoking a cigarette increases the cost of healthcare for that employee, plus the wasted five to ten minutes of actually smoking the cigarette or a brief cell phone conversation. An example of government waste!

Some people need to have some tougher skin, partisans always convey a double standard!

But let's continue to build a new pier!

Re: On this much, they agree

We have well documented Barack Obama's Marxist underpinnings. His wife, his preacher, his mother, his father, his childhood mentor, and his neighbor Bill Ayers all have underlying beliefs in marxism. They share a disdain for capitalism, capital, and job providers. They are all swept up in the call for social change. And Obama has been right there with them.

We get glimpses every once in a while -- Obama rails against corporate special interests and denies taking money from them, while using them to raise his money and while actually getting money from them. Obama expresses his distain for religion as a crutch for humanity, echoing Marx's view that religion is an opiate for the masses. Obama decries the unfairness of the rich while expressing his connection to the proletariat, despite not being one of them.

There is a growing sense though, both among some Clinton supporters and those of us on the right, that we're at a tipping point and it is a point that requires the press to dig a bit deeper.

Obama's ties to terrorist Bill Ayers and his terrorist wife are often played down by the Obama campaign, but they are only disputed by Obama's chief strategist. In fact, Obama's present successful political career was started in Bill Ayers's living room.

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Then, of course, we have his dealings with Tony Rezko and Saddam loyalist Nadhmi Auchi, with whom Obama tries to play down his relationship. Nonetheless, Obama appears to have yet again lied to cover up his toasting of Nadhmi.

Equally disturbing is Obama's willingness to take money from Code Pink activists, that particularly repugnant group that harasses our military, assaults our elected officials, and accuses our heros of being war criminals. Obama has no problem with their money or their support. In fact, his rhetoric frequently appeals to this group and its supporters because it is so anti-American military, or rather anti-imperalist.

Maybe all these things combined send signals to those who live in that world. The signals are seemingly so strong that Obama has a terrorist fan club of sorts. We should review the members.

Read on . . .

We have someone with alleged PLO links, Rashid Khalidi, holding a fundraiser for Obama.

Then there is this author of the site Electric Intifada who characterized the old Obama:

Over the years since I first saw Obama speak I met him about half a dozen times, often at Palestinian and Arab-American community events in Chicago including a May 1998 community fundraiser at which Edward Said was the keynote speaker. In 2000, when Obama unsuccessfully ran for Congress I heard him speak at a campaign fundraiser hosted by a University of Chicago professor. On that occasion and others Obama was forthright in his criticism of US policy and his call for an even-handed approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Naturally he supports the present Obama too. In fact, he believes Obama is

very in tune with [Reverend Wright's] views on Israel. He even quotes Obama's remarks to a group of Jewish leaders in Cleveland to comfort his fellow anti-Semites that "Obama implicitly admitted that Wright's views were rooted in opposition to Israel's deep ties to apartheid South Africa, and thus entirely reasonable."

Arch-communist Daniel Ortega is enthralled by the rise of Obama.

In statements broadcast on Sandinista Radio La Primerisima, Ortega said he has "faith in God and in the North American people, and above all in the youth, that the moment of great change in the U.S. will come and it will act differently, with justice and equality toward all nations."

The terrorist group Hamas, despite Obama batting his eyelids at them and denouncing Jimmy Carter's embrace of them, are on board the Obama Nation bandwagon. "We hope he will (win) the election," Ahmed Yusuf said.

We also have the curious affair between Obama and communist terrorist group FARC. It's not exactly clear if FARC associates got time with Obama, but we know documents seized from FARC show FARC believes Obama will win the election, which will be good for FARC and Venezuela and bad for American ally Columbia — an ally the Democrats and labor unions are already working very hard to undermine because of Columbia's aggressive posture against communist infiltration into the Columbian labor movement.

If that's not enough, Fidel Castro loves Barack Obama and this Obama and Clinton should team up.

Let's also not forget Barack Obama's aggressive willingness to preemptively kowtow to the Chinese regime over the Olympics. "It's very hard to tell your banker that he's wrong," Obama said.

And we should remember that Jimmy Carter, who never met a foe of America without embracing them as a kindred soul, also likes Obama and is even now considering an endorsement of Obama.

At some point we should be concerned that so many enemies of this country, enemies who are proud to be enemies of this country, and enemies of liberty are supporting a man like Barack Obama.

Why do they support him? What do they see in Barack Obama? All I can think of is they see an inexperienced politician who has already been raised in their marxist world view who has already signaled his intentions to surrender America abroad and defeat individualistic American independence at home. That would be the only way to rid this nation of what Obama's wife views as its "mean spirited" nature.

But are we ready to elect a man our enemies see as a man with a strong propensity to actively *strive* to take us out of first place?

Why does this rogue's gallery of terrorists, communists, and other American enemies support Obama?

The only reason the NCGOP has this ad is to raise money, they're strapped for cash and they're willing to pull the race card to get it.
