Our kids deserve all the information they can get in this day and age - my son is about to graduate from high school and we are trying to make sure that he has all the information he needs when he leaves home - how to do the laundry, how to cook himself dinner, how to balance a checkbook (actually, that may be a lost art!), defensive driving - shouldn't pregnancy and STD protection be on that list? Obviously parents have a big role to play - but the job of the schools is to make sure our young people are prepared to go out into the world!

Sex education is widely supported by parents of all political persuasions. The N&O seems intent on ignoring this and pandering to sensationalism. Trying to be the NY Post does not become the state's news of record. Please get real: talk to a few parents or teens and stop perpetuating rightwing talking points.

Huh?

Was it the quote about the "mutual masturbation" Republican talking-point you covered or the mere mention of Representative David Almond?

It's not like I brought up Cary Allred.

Sheesh, that would be inappropriate. Think of the children.

What a dork! Abstinence works IF YOU FOLLOW THE RULES! No birth control works if you ignore the rules. I'm sure your son appreciated this comment about as much as I did.

Please. We already understand from your previous comments that the reactionary right has nothing more important to do than watch self-affirming propaganda on television. Point taken.

I would like to think that the reason you have a 42 year old son is that God knew what he was doing.

Faison needs to give himself a little more credit.
He probably got a lot of votes from 20 year olds this past election. Tell us what you really think about teenagers and young twenty somethings. If you could not figure out what unprotetcted sex could do then blame your parents not your school.

Real people, real problem, really recently.

Here ya go.

If we only did this to every straight couple that called the police, we could "stimulate" the bailbondsman industry and increase revenue from court fees.

Lawrence V Texas only prohibited prosecution if the behavior occured in a 'private' setting. The statement in the article above that 'state statutes were found unconstitutional' by this decision is untrue. In fact, Mecklenburg County (Charlotte, NC) arrests roughly 250 homosexuals a year for either a 'crime against nature' or 'soliciting a crime against nature'. Proof that the law is being used to arrest, prosecute and jail those that 'solicit' such behavior. The above is a good example of unformed reporters who claim what they 'think' the US Supreme Court said versus what it actually said.
