State House 33 is a unfairly gerry-mandered district that guarrantees the election of Dan Blue as long as he runs. The latest Supreme court decision will bear further weigth against the General Assembly.

It is about time North Carolina opened up Sunday Hunting and got on board with the 43 states that offer Sunday Hunting.

Acoording to the National Safety Council hunting is one of the safest activities one can do in the outdooors. You have .001 chance out of 100,000 of getting shot by a hunter's arrow or bullet in the outdoors.

It's weird. I even gave a sermon at a UU church last week about living life in the sweet spot. I've often thought I had a pretty firm handle on "do good" ... but "be nice" was hard to come by. And "have fun"? Well, that was a lost cause.

But then I wrote this bumpersticker that evolved into a novel, and, well, I've taken the ideas to heart.

Not saying it's easy, but it is my new mission in life.

I have it on good authority that Jesus doesn't care if we hunt, fish, smoke, dance or play cards on Sunday. Nor does Jesus care if people have sex without being married. Jesus doesn't care whether women cover their heads or beat men in tennis.

Jesus does care that we make issues of petty prejudices and are constantly dragging His name into it.

I'd go for that!

I noticed that you have had to delete some comments deemed to be offensive. How about penalize the guilty poster by making him read James' book and then give us a book report.

I certainly don't rate James' book as spam. It ain't that high up the food chain. LOL

From my novel, Jesus Swept

At a year under thirty, John Paul Stone is a hard-ass airborne Marine, not the kind of man you’d expect to see crying on his knees with a preacher hugging his fresh-shaved head. But that’s what happens, just like they rehearsed it, right there in front of the new Jesus, Gary, Luke, and a hundred other witnesses.

“Holy smoke,” whispers the new Jesus when the preacher calls Stone’s name in his booming Bible voice. “Sergeant Stone is named John.”

“Shhhh,” says Gary. The sign of the fish catches his eye behind the pulpit. “We’re witnessing a mackerel.”

Even Luke laughs at that.

“Maybe he’ll join us,” says the new Jesus. “We need a John. Let’s ask him when we lay on hands.”

“We don’t need a John,” grumps Luke. “I can do the baptizing."

I am old enough to remember when businesses closed Wednesday at noon and made up for it on Saturday mornings. I once asked why this was so. The reply I got from my father was so that those who lived in the county could get home in plenty of time to prepare for Wednesday evening services at church. Now, mind you, Wednesday was and is not a holy day. However, closing at noon did, at the time, show respect for those who took their church going seriously.
Our modern society has taken to demonize Christians. So, removing the bow hunting on Sunday is just another attempt at further demonizing Christians.
